I'll probably be proved wrong, but me and the others around me, saw it that Elding had clearly been sent on to get someone sent off. He sprinted straight across to Greer, kept niggling away when the ref wasnt looking, and when the ref looked, got hold of Greers shirt and stuck his head in his face/chest. Looked to me as if Greer simply tried to shrug him off, but because the lino (who gave it) could only see the back of Elding, it looked as if he floored him.

Didn't look like that from where I was. Yep, Elding was being a bit of a cock but I thought as soon as the ball was played and Elding started his run Greer just blatantly elbowed his throat. The highlights should be interesting tonight!

Edit - I may be wrong though, I was just watching Greer and Elding so not sure whether the ball was played or not. Just assumed it had as Elding has started his run!

Looked a clear red card, but never a penalty. Big mistake by the ref. Greer shouldn't have given him the chance to make the balls up though

Fair enough, im not saying i'm correct, as thats just what i thought when i saw it. I'll probably be proved wrong and it may well have been an elbow, just looked more like a shrug from my angle.
As you say, will be interesting to sky+ it and have a couple of looks at it again.

Referee's in this league don't have a clue of the rules, we've had problems year after year with the crap standards which I think needs to be sorted out fairly urgently.

My understanding also. But, it doesn't detract from the fact that Greer should not have reacted as he did and as Captain, not a good example to set either.

Sounds like you didn't have a clear view of the incident.

Elding was the one who elbowed Greer as soon as he entered the box, Greer pushed him away, Elding went down clutching his chubby face.

Sure, it's a sending-off for Greer, if a slightly petty one, but why;

a) was Elding not shown red?
b) was a free-kick not given to us, as Elding's was the initial offence?
c) a penalty given when the ball was dead?

I was in H block and saw Greer take a tasty swing at Elding, I called Red card before the ref had time to blow his whistle.

Elbow? i never saw and Elbow, Elding pushed Greer and Greer punched/pushed Elding in the face. A red card he clearly deserved all the moans i heard about it from other fans around me was just ridiculous.

I was in the North stand and had a reasonable view of what happened, it looked like Elding ran straight into Greer a shoved him (Yellow Card), Greer then pushed Elding in the face (Red Card), free kick hadn't been taken therefore ball is NOT in play so penalty cannot be given (wrong decision) Elding acting in the next version of swan lakes dying swan (oscar nomination) as for the howler at the end (least said)

Anyone who disagrees with the decision either wasn’t at the game or completely biased. Was in the north stand and could hear the smack when GG hit him. I’m pretty sure he'd taken the free kick as well because their player was trying to get past holding GG's top as it was taken.

The player made a meal of it, but it was definitely an arm-face collision. 100% straight red and three match ban.

Seems to be a bit of a recurring theme for our Gordon.

I am in absolute agreement with you. I watched him come off the bench after instruction, run with his head down like a Bull dog. He targeted Greer,ran into him hard and then backed into him,Greer pushed Elding off and then he threw himself to the ground and rolled aroung like a twat. He should have had a yellow card for running into Greer if not one for unsporting behaviour. Not a bloody straight red and a penalty against the Albion. Thanks Ref, 2 points taken away from us....Grrrrrrr!!!

I think the FA will take a dim view of his straight red card on his return from a three match ban for another red card...

Can they increase a statutory three match ban anybody

The free kick had not been taken..the ball was dead. ...as it appeared the Rochdale player was as well !
Red card yes..penalty..no way !
