Agreed. There are too many unofficial, self-appointed, humourless mods on here these days. A bit of near the knuckle, tongue in cheek humour and the miserable f***ers are all over it. It's a great board over all, but I think it should be renamed 'NSC: Sanctuary for the Easily Offended.'

I recently quit Facebook for good and it's the best lifestyle thing I've done in a long time. T'net can really eat up the time, add in the unnecessary stress it can cause and it's no wonder more and more people are finding better things to do with their time. I won't be leaving NSC any time soon as I still find it a largely positive experience, but I'm not on here as much as I used to be (thank ****! some of you say). Like some of the negative reactions to Martin's post on here, I even had so-called 'friends' taking the piss / slating me for leaving FB when I posted I was off, proves a point really. The real world is still the best place to engage with people.

I tend to agree. I've never joined FB despite pressure to do so but realise NSC can be equally time-wasting. Sort of my vice, bit like drinking and smoking. Don't do both, but one's ok
I usually do a detox and go 'dark' for a few months. Like a bear. Hibernation. But never 'leave', NSC always pulls you back eventually - it's often hilarious and actually a great source of news about the Albion and world in general. Stuff the media and club can't say (or deny!)
To be serious for a second I can't see myself leaving NSC until I'm too senile to use it properly (the signs are normally an inability to use the technology that the site is accessed from, wittering on about your Omsung Phine and an unhealthy obsession with left backs who were last any good in 2006).
I would bin off my Facebook tomorrow if it wasn't for my friends round the world from when I was travelling. I get jokes from Canada, both sides of the Trump debate, pictures of food and children from Japan, Taiwan, Australia and Europe and have somehow ended up in an NRL banter group. But these are people I can't see regularly but like a lot. Everything else is just pushing an agenda. Be a Vegan / hate a Tory / be more scientific / here's a "hilarious" Corbyn meme / chemtrails / boycott Japan. It's incredibly dull and 90% of the memes are wrong anyway. I've slowly binned off the old school and workmates I couldn't remember or didn't like but the stuff keeps coming from people who I genuinely like in real life because that's all FB has really been reduced to. All power to anyone who's ditched their account.

I've 'unfollowed' EVERYONE I know on facebook so I don't see (and am not tempted to scroll zombie-like through) any of their shit. It's great. My 'feed' is completely empty. I only keep the account open like you to stay in touch with distant family & friends etc.
Now you mention it I remember your flounce quite well. Watching it gradually unfold was like watching a car hurtling towards the edge of a cliff in slow motion. I actually found it quite uncomfortable reading because it was obvious to me that something was wrong because the irrationality of your flounce was totally out of kilter with the rationality of your other posts. I remember a lot of posters started rounding on you which just aggravated things for you. I was surprised there was so little consideration for the possibility that something might not be right with you because your reaction seemed quite out of character. I can't remember if I watched your flounce unfold as it was happening or whether I read it after it had already occured.
Even though I've seen your name in recent posts I hadn't made the connection that you were the one who had that particular flounce until you referred to it. I'm glad to see your flounce was only a temporary reaction as it did make me feel a little uncomfortable. I even referred to it a few weeks later in another thread someone had started on some subject or other. It might have been on mental health or bullying I can't remember but I referred to your flounce as an example.
