Strange one, he went for the Fulham job, had four references with his application, Fergie, Pep, Jose and Southgate and still didn’t get the job.

Going back a few years as well, in the summer of 1991, Barry Lloyd allegedly turned down job offers from both Chelsea and Southampton, electing to stay at the Albion, unfortunately by Dec 1993 he was effectively unemployable as a manager.

You are right, I am being very harsh on Wilder as he is a fantastic manager.
However he should have walked the Palace and Forest jobs.
I just feel as he was bottom of the rung at Sheff Utd in the end clubs will see this rather than his previous work and may find if difficult to get a job in the top division again
I do actually hope he does well in the future.

Surely if you stay in the game long enough a bad run of results is inevitable? Or you find yourself at a club where all is not rosy behind the scenes? Or you take a job and the players are willing enough but just not as good as those in your division.

Some have imo but there are a few mentioned on here who haven’t come close to sell by date. Benitez is one of them imo

Feel really sorry for the guy to be honest. Listening to the abuse he was getting from Toon fans at the Spurs game after the Saudi takeover. Obviously he is a doomed man now, just a question of when he is given the sack, not if.

Not the greatest manager the League has ever seen obviously, but an honorable man l think who has done his best wherever he has managed. At the end of the day he managed to keep Newcastle in the Premier League with a team of poor players, and little to no investment at all.

Yes I think that Brucey has come out of this very well. He is the only one to do so.

I wonder what he'll do next. I'm sure he'll need a break to get a bit of therapy and spend his payoff millions, I but I suspect he'll do a bit of punditry and i'm sure will eventually try to get another manager's job. He actually has a pretty decent CV. I really hope he take a lower level job, draws Newcastle in the cup, knocks them out and celebrates wildly in front of the Gallowgate

A bit like when Ranieri was at Chelsea or Hughes at City, was clear they were going but they weren't immediately dispatched so had to put up with all kinds of shit they didn't deserve.

I think you need to reconsider your last comment, you sound like a Toon fan! They have had massive investment and over the years (remember that PL team in the Championship) more than most of the bottom half clubs.

If asked this question 2 years ago then One who I would have bet on being the correct answer by now is David moyes. Really impressed with what he has done at West Ham.
