The Avengers with Dianna Rigg and Patrick McNee as Emma Peel and John Steed.

Witty, stylish, very tongue in cheek and so British

Seconded The IT crowd - very funny
Peep Show (Channel 4) is also very good
For films, if you like social realism Mike Leigh has some good films and of course Ken Loach.

As Ive said here before:

This Happy Breed. British cinema at its very best, Noel Coward was a genius.

Shane Meadows is a great British director. Dead Mans Shoes is gritty and worth a watch.

DMS is excellent, no question, but some of his other stuff misses the mark imho (A Room for Romeo Brass, Somers Town and Once Upon a Time in the Midlands as three examples) in spite of being well-intentioned homages to the British working class experience.

As for This is England, some really poor acting from several of the leads (Turgoose, Mclure & Gilgun) lets down what is otherwise a decent film.

All down to opinions I guess, but I basically disagree with every word there.

The film was created by New Zealanders and the TV spin off is American I think.

But anything with Matt Berry in is very watchable. Toast of London is superb

Youre right film was NZ its one of the flight of the concords,Jermaine, the three vampires in the tv series are all english but set in usa. Still very good

I’m Alan Partridge
The Office
Extras
The Mighty Boosh
Peep Show

Spaced

As for films that haven’t already been mentioned:

The World at War, possibly the best History TV series in, er, TV History.

Sir Laurence Olivier's narration is superb.
