For a first start, after only being in the club a few weeks, I thought it was a great effort and he looked really good. As was said above, once he gets used our forwards' runs, he'll be threading through some lovely passes.

We need a song for him!

Did very well. Some of the praise is over the top though - honeymoon stuff. Think Ayari will start more of the remaining games than Gomez will.

Agree with the above. Excellent first half, and dipped just a little second half. But the creativity mixed with the defensive nous is a potent mix. I’m really excited to see more of him.

He looked like a Gross/Mac Allister hybrid today, massively impressive.

Neither of the aforementioned legends put in a performance that good this early in their Albion careers either...

He was sooooo good in the first half. Does need to learn how to pace himself but he has a beautifully delicate touch and yet a box to box presence.

Like.

Great first half but faded in second. It was his first start so understandable. Baleba and Gomes in midfield looks very promising.

Agree with the above. Excellent first half, and dipped just a little second half. But the creativity mixed with the defensive nous is a potent mix. I’m really excited to see more of him.
All of the above perfect descriptions, sums up my feelings.

I thought he looked superb for the first 30 mins, then started to look tired, came back strongly at the beginning of the second half, but it was inevitable that he'd be in the first raft of subs along with Pervis. The only thing stopping him is match sharpness, which will, inevitably, take time but for a first start it was very promising indeed

He was very good in the first half especially, does have a bit of everything and is another very good signing. In CM we look very strong. I thought Wiffer and Ayari came on and played very well as well both allowed us to keep the ball better than we had been.

I like his demeanour on the pitch. Very calm and composed - doesnt panic in possession. Its buys him the time to pick that right pass.

We have such strength in depth now in midfield now and especially with the rejigged approach post Forest, its looking pretty positive for the rest of the season.

agreed Zamora feels slightly inevitable as
One of the greats. However, Georgino is making a good case and gomez tonight was amazing. Calderon still is my favourite but there are a few players in the current team who are so dangerously likeable that it is becoming a tricky thought
To be honest.....we now have the best squad we have ever had in our history (and maybe a team to rival RDZ's 6th place) so if we can't see that we certainly have several best of all times in each position playing for us now, then we are strange old men, smelling of elderberries, living in a past so distorted by rose-tinted spectacles and the smell of Old Spice that we are even thinking back on Thatcher with warmth and fondness.

Give me today. I like today. I think its f***ing brilliant.

He played well, his first start and now he’s Bellingham level?
Holy mo.
To missquote Desiderius Erasmus (a favourite of yours, I am led to believe)
In the land of the historically bereft of trophies, the one legged man is king.

I accept that Gomez is probably slightly better endowed than a one legged man,
albeit he has taken too few steps so far to permit a meaningful assessment
Which was, I think, your point
