Oh yes, we've got friends in West Wickham that we visit as well, they live just by the rec (the one with the rugby club and the little pitch 'n' putt course). I used to live in Sanderstead as a boy so I always like to drive through there and point out my old houses and school.

What was this thread about again?

I think you are referring to 'Sparrows Den' aside the 'Mad Mile' in which case the area is more Coney Hall.

Possibly, possibly. They call it 'West Wickham' which might be a snobby thing (like saying you live in West Hove when actually you live in Portslade). All I know is if you come from Selsdon, past the tram terminus and 'follow your nose' towards Orpington there's a straight bit with the rec on the left and what I think is Croydon Rugby Club on the right. Turn left at the first mini-roundabout and they're up there on the right.

Well I am going [to Withdean, not bloody Orpington..] and what's more I'm even looking forward to it.

How do you like THOSE apples?

Again, i am going because i have a season ticket, and would be a bit of a waste to not go. Personally, home games give me the chance to catch up with mates and grab a bite to eat et all so overall its a decent day out and relatively enjoyable. It will take a lot worse to stop me going, but for those that cant commit to a season ticket i can understand why they stay away. To pay £24 or whatever a ticket is to watch a team struggling in league 1, against poor opposition (no disrespect to Oldham), would almost certainly stop me going!

It is pretty final I must admit.

what was the cribbage score?

Monday night is cribbage night. Dont you know anything?

I will of course be starting a thread especially for this (maybe even more than 1 - 76 say) because, obviously, as I have a passing interest in a minority sport, it stands to reason that everyone else will want to know what the score was.

Bloody hell; you only eat at home games?! The summer must be a struggle and I bet you suffer more than most when a games called off. Is it called the withdean plan?

Pardon me but should this Churchillian retort make any difference to those who are becoming increasingly frusrtated? Doubt it makes them any less of a staunch supporter as you.

Good luck to you and enjoy your day as well.

Well, possibly like you, I find this board extremely frustrating. I have been following the Albion for years and will continue until I die. So regardless of who is manager and how poorly we may have played in certain spells this season, I will still be going.

For those who get frustrated, I can't think of a more negative way than to start threads about getting the manager sacked, negativity breeds negativity and with the reverse, I'd prefer to get behind the team for 90 minutes. When Slade first arrived there was a feel good factor and a real believe we could acheive something... It's still possible! But we need to stop all the tosh!

Thanks and I will.

I think an element of the frustration lies with a perception that a number of supporters will always just turn up watch and get behind the team and if we play tosk and lose look forward to the next game with an 'Oh well, lost again but never mind the manager and the team are doing their best'. I applaud the sentiment of cheering on the eleven on the pitch but frustrations have to be aired - and is this not the forum?

I can see your point of view, but I don't think we are that far off to be honest. I know the sending offs and defending for 90 minutes need addressing but overall we are a much improved side?

No?

Aren't the people in question... the ones getting frustrated.... just bitching and wanting Slade out? Rather than supporting the team?

Lets face it most of them don't even go to the game, so surely there opinions dont carry much weight.

Here we go again.. some people cannot afford the cost to take themselves and family members. Don't anyone tell me my opnion does not count!

That sums it up very nicely.

If the quality of the football on Saturday is of the same standard we have seen in most games at home, and particulalrly that witnessed on Tuesday evening, then I will be a content STH.

The football this season has been SO MUCH MORE entertaining than last season and although we may not be winning as much as we should, if we keep it up and start getting the rub of the green and keep 11 players on the pitch and score more goals that the oppo, I will be more than happy :jester:

Actually, would anyone like to buy my ticket? Guaranteed victory, if you do. We always seem to win when I stay away (family commitments this time) - so it'll be the best PM you'll have ever written ;)
