They were on the Hermes for part of the detachment which was why I thought they were 3 cdo ... memory is going.

One of my mates was in the Coldstream guards in the late eighties ... funnily enough he was less than complimentry about Grenadiers ...
less than complimentary about grenadiers, just jealousy, tell him his regimental motto is second to one, that should liven him up a bit !

no you were being pedantic in the fact that you read what you what you WANTED to read in my post, if you were half as clever as you think you are , you would have realised that my post indicated that my old RSM assumed that to be the case, but unfortunately you didnt have the intellect.

Well far be it from me to argue with your assessment of my IQ, however...I definitely read it as your reaction to your RSM's racism, not what he had to say about it. Fair enough if thats not how it was meant to come accross.

Pedantic would be pointing out a spelling mistake.
Not just a spelling mistake.

If I was pedantic, I would be making the point that the title of the national anthem is 'God Save The Queen', not 'God Save our Queen', as posted by Pork Sword in the thread title.

But that is very low down my list of things that are wrong with this thread.

To be fair, this thread has nothing to do with the national anthem.

Sorry for being pedantic!

how lovely of me ? so you think it's perfectly acceptable to spout IRA supporting slogans on an english football forum ?

He said "up the Republic". Thats not an IRA slogan.

Why is "Up the Republic" anti-British? Its a separate country with its own proud history and traditions.

As for living there, I would love to but unfortunately it has been hit shockingly by the recession, and I would be unable to find work there. I am also taking advantage of the longstanding links between the 2 countries (which are ultimately a British invention) to work my arse off in the public sector and pay taxes into this fine country.

And speaking of being pedantic, tiochfaidh ar la (our day will come) is a Republican slogan, not an IRA one. There is nothing wrong with peaceful Republicanism. It threatens you in no way whatsoever.

To be honest all the countries that make up these islands should be united, but it is not to be so.
