God is Great?

Let's look at his 2005 track record: --

Asian Tsunami -- 300,000 dead
Hurricane Katrina -- 900 dead
Pakistan earthquake - 40,000 dead

According to insurance companies, these are all classed as Acts of God...

After the Hurricane Katrina disaster, many survivors in New Orleans were praising the Lord for having saved them.
Villagers triumphantly rescuing a child from the Pakistani earthquake could be heard chanting "God is great".

If these poor, deluded people believe that God saved them, you wonder who they believe was responsible for killing all their friends and relations.

God is great? God is cruel? God is incompetent?
Or God is non-existent?

You decide.

God is great, God is good
He guards your neighborhood
Though it's generally understood
Not quite the way you would
You try to take the slack
Stay awake and watch his back
But something happens every now and then
And someone breaks into the Promised Land
Ah boy boy
This world is not your toy
This world is long on hunger
This world is short on joy

A-E-I-O
You speak as if you know
What's good for everyone
What's good in what you've done?
What's good about a world in which
War rages at a fever pitch
And people die for the little things
A little corn, a little beans

Ah boy boy
This world is not your toy
This world is, this world is
Long on hunger
Short on joy
How much longer
You gonna keep the world hungry boy?

You measure peace with guns
Progress in mega-tons
Who's left when the war is won?
Soldier of misfortune--
Soldier of an angry call
Soldier on foreign soil
I'm not here to fight your war
I know what you're fighting for

Ah boy boy
This world is not your toy
This world is, this world is
Long on hunger
Short on joy
How much longer
You gonna keep the world hungry boy?

"These things were sent to try us. To test our faith" Thats what those brainwashed Christians will say!

Anyone know that quote by (is it) Dan Barker? About faith?

Same thing occurred to me last night, as I watched them chanting "God is Great" whilst dragging survivors from the rubble. Its a curious slant on life - anything GOOD that happens and its all down to the Almighty. Anything bad ? Well, that must be someone else.

Is there an equivalent to the Devil in the Koran, or is it all just 'infidels' ?

I watched that X-Factor thing the other day. YES ALRIGHT I'M ONLY HUMAN. One woman had sung already and was waiting for the decision. She sat there and said: "Well, it's in God's hands now."
No it bloody wasn't. It was Sharon Osborne.

How many people died of a heart attack yesterday throughout the world?
How many died of cancer?
Yes natural disasters are dreadful but we all have to die sometime.
There are no guarantees you will get your 3 score years and ten.
Death is inevitable. Is one form of death any worse than others?

We live in a free world where sh1t happens. If you believe in God, you have to believe in the Devil, and all the crap that's going on is the work of the Devil. Christians, I think, believe that if you have a loving relationship with Jesus, you'll be ok cos you'll go to heaven. I presume other religions believe something similar.

But ultimately we live in a free world, where we're not all robots and sh1t happens.
