Exactly. There's absolutely no story here, just bigging up Nuromol painkillers, which by the way sound in no way special. A combination of paracetamol AND Ibuprofen, well big wow. It must save lives the world over now that the two most commonly available painkillers are rolled into one pill instead of having to take TWO.

The company have obviously paid for this advertorial and yet the link back to their site doesn't actually work, which I've no doubt is pissing their execs off immensely.

I'm not sure I've ever seen anything so shameless

if indeed that were the case ...... which I've already mentioned, it isn't. the story came first, the ability to make money came second.

No Glenn Murray, no title last season. How would we have fared with Liam Dickinson, Holroyd, Wood and Sandaza up front?

He wanted a three year deal, Gus only offered him two, so he opted for Palace, who also had £8,000 a week on the table compared to our £6,500.

If he was truly shit the reaction would have been 'meh' but he was the second highest scorer at Withdean.

Come come El Pres, the reaction probably would have been "meh" if it was anyone other than those idiots up the road. Ok a bit more than "meh" but it wouldnt have got the same reactions as it did signing for those twats.

His goals were crucial to the title, but in some respects we have to thank him for signing for them because its made the game that little bit more TASTIER. Plus we do LOVE a good BOO, especially at a former player who has left under a cloud.

Can't help feeling that this club, of all clubs, should have known about the "Lloyd release procedure"

Happend at the end of almost every season when Barry was in charge.:laugh:

Although I think my applause for him for his goals as our player as he walks out with his Palace shirt on MIGHT be drowned out by the boo's and swearing from my fellow North Standers.......!!!!!
There will be two of us applauding him, but we will soundly be drowned out. If it weren't for him, we'd be playing in League 1 this season, with a lot less STHs, and less money to spend on other players. I'm grateful for his performances, and won't forget just because he was offered more by the pikeys.
a twitter follower just showed us this ... it is advertorial, a placed article, the piece is sponsored by new painkiller Nuramol
"The solution was Nuromol, a new over-the-counter drug and the first single tablet painkiller to contain both paracetamol and ibuprofen" - what a load of shit. When I have a bad migraine I just take a couple of paracetamol tablets and a couple of ibuprofen at the same time, and they're cheap (own brand).

Not strictly true - I know the journo that wrote this (he's a Chester fan and his wife is a southampton fan). he picked the story up from Murray's comments on the mid season video last year. The Nuramol piece came out in discussions and I believe the paper approached them to get the placement.
You mean the paper approached Nuramol for some money, and exaggurated its benefits to match?

That's pretty much how I understood it. We're not talking multi millionaire premierhip players here, I don't blame him for taking the pay rise.

So by his own admission we persevered with him when he was constantly injured. We sent him to the top specialists to resolve his problems and we effectively saved his career, and how does he thanks us......

By signing for our rivals.

No problem with that.

He was out of contract. Their deal to him was better than our deal to him after him scoring 20 goals in a season. Probably spoke a lot to him about his place in the new pecking order up front. And at his age he is at the top of his game and should be playing regularly. We obviously weren't guaranteeing him a place having shelled out the money we have this summer. Can't blame him for making the most of the opportunity. Won't stop him getting a heap of abuse when he turns up at the amex wearing that dishcloth

Apologies, I'd not seen your post when I replied. However it still seems a very tenuous story to me. There's not a lot about Murray as a person or as a player, just his injuries

What he did with us last season is a given has long since stopped being relevant, it's what he chose to do in the summer. And I'm one of those who thinks turning down a massive pay rise to £325,000 a year to play for Brighton in the Championship, and choosing our rivals ahead of of other options, was not Glenn's finest hour.

Sadly, this isn't the most shameless example of product placement I've seen, and it shows the way it's going. You used to be able to speak to players anyway. Now even a relative no-mark like Murray will only speak at length if he's getting something out of it via some deal with his agent and the drug company. Piss-poor.

I once did an interview with Fabregas via Nike and in the room there was the Arsenal press officer AND a Nike press officer interrupting trying to keep me 'on message', it's very annoying. When I asked about Sol Campbell's recent meltdown and walkout in Arsenal's match against West Ham (the only story in town) both intervened and said Fabregas wouldn't speak about that. When I objected, to his immense credit, and with all the pressure from his club and main sponsor, he (at the age of maybe 19) spoke up for himself and chose a form of words about the incident that they reluctantly agreed to and I could take back to the paper. But he didn't have to do that, and most don't. There are more and more of these type of interviews, normally accompanied by a large picture featuring the sponsor, but increasingly that is the game. You don't play, you don't get the access.

err he WAS offered a two year deal but wanted a longer one. And to be fair he had a prewtty good case. So there was a difference of opinion about a player's value. Hey that's never happened before!

Sound like he had beome another Fred Binney (cooo, that ages me) but we got over that situation pretty quickly (Ward and Mellor) and as I recall Binney never made the step up to play at the level his ability warranted.

You mean the paper approached Nuramol for some money, and exaggurated its benefits to match.

I dont know if they exaggerated it or whether or not the level of support it gave became a larger focus once the sponsor became involved. It certainly looks exaggerated given as you say, the relative ease of taking both drugs either at the same time or staggered (which is what I normally do if I need to take both leaving a couple of hours between them).

True - it was his injuries that were the focus (it was in the Health supplement) and as I say, was based on comments he made in last years mid year video which covered this. Given his current sicknote status this could become a regular series in the Express. Wonder if he's taken his Nuramol this morning?

Suggested chant for CPFC fans.

Numerol, Numerol, we're the caravan dwellers know as Crystal Palace and we are taking Numerol. If my sister don't come I'll dose her drink, with a packet of Numerol.

Not going to comment on the article because I won't be bothering to read it, but on Murray's position; he'd been with us for long enough to have his eyes open about any move to Palace and the reaction it would elicit.

I don't care what the contract offer was, I don't care how many goals he scored for us last season, I don't care what his reasons were. He took Palace's 30 pieces of silver and will doubtless respond to the abuse he will know is coming by scoring against us and doing that stupid hand to forehead celebration.

If he reacts by playing shit and losing his rag, so much the better, but having seen the sort of bloke he apparently is, namely, very much his own man, I seriously doubt he'll give a flying toss.

As for the move itself, no doubt in the short term it was better for him financially. But for his career? Difficult to be objective as a Brighton fan of course, but would even an outsider seriously view it as an upward move these days?

If the rumours about his ex wife taking him to the cleaners and him needing every penny are true, then that probably explains both these acts.

I'm just totally not bothered by Glenda. He's a bit of an oddball that can really play when the mood suits him. He's gone now and I'm convinced his career has peaked. He's only heading downhill now.

Ciao.

Viva la Gus.
