The next Peter Ward or

The next Bobby Zamora or

The next John Byrne or

The next Dean Saunders or

The next Gary Nelson or

The next Kurt Nogan or

The next Nicky Forster, the list could go on but ...

What it does show Barry Lloyd's detractors (of which I have never been one) is that the man knows a good player when he sees one.

Really pleased for Murray, he has come in and has done a fantastic job, I don't think anyone expected him to do this well. Unfortuantely, he has been a victim of his own success in some respects, due to the fact that some people give him gyp for certain parts of his game. This does concern me a little bit and I hope it doesn't continue into next season.

It seems as long as he gets a good cross in,there is a good chance of a headed goal.It is such an asset to have someone decent in the air up front.

i was never keen on lloyd as a manager, but i was chuffed when he started scouting for us, as he has quite a knack of finding talent

I've heard it said, that he's the next Brighton legend, and the first ...Glen Murray :clap2:

This may be bollocks, but I heard that we signed Murray based on how he performed in a warm up before a game, seems a bit of an odd way to chose a player...but it bloody well worked in this instance.

Murray's becoming an important player for us, for sure. I'd just say this about Lloyd though: this man thought Richard Tiltman was better than Dean Saunders. Was the Murray signing really down to him?

He's one of those players who won't contribute an awful lot outside the box but he's definitely a goalscorer. I've said it a million times, but I'll say it again, give the man crosses and he will score 20+ every season. Don't give him crosses and he'll look a joke.

same could be said about Forster really , but yeah i agree with that

the blokes got talent and we all saw his capabilities when he first joined the club , then that Carlisle game really knocked the shit out of him morale wise but since then he's been building himself back up and i think today he showed more signs of why we spent £300k on him  ALWAYS had faith in the bloke and i'm sure if he keeps plugging away he'll be an Albion hero one day

Ten minutes into the second half, the youth behind me (TYBM) goes "Get Murray off he's shit", after Murray is caught offside.

A few minutes later, Murray involved in Westlake's goal, nothing said
Murray then scores, Padders turns to TYBM "That's why he should be kept on, because he is a goalscorer"
TYBM "He's still shit, he's always offside"
Padders "Look at his goalscoring record, how many has he scored since signing at the end of January"
TYBM "He should have scored more, he cost us £300k, it's our record signing for 25 years"
Padders/Me "He scores 1 in 2, that's a good record for someone who has not played at this level"
TYBM "He's shit, granted he is better than Revell but he is not as good as Bas, and he went seven games without a goal in one run for us. He does nothing but score goals"
Padders/Me "He's had loads of assists, if you think he does nothing but score goals you should have seen Peter Ward"
TYBM "For 300k he should be scoring more often anyway than once every other game, especially as we are skint"
Me " You get f*** all for £300k these days, Westlake cost Leeds a million, he's not three times the player that Murray is"
TYBM " We should not have wasted all that money on him when we still had Bas"

Padders/Me then give up.

It does however beg the question, what exactly do you expect to get for £300k? (or a fifteenth of an Akinbiyi as it is sometimes known)

Seems like the youth behind you needs a severe reality check then

i thought at first £300k was a lot but worth every penny so far, He has dealt with the step up a league no worries and is gonna be 20+ goals next season if he is not injured

Looks like TYBM has no understanding of the game at all .
Murray is worth every penny as he SCORES GOALS ..something we often lacked in the recent past...and his build up play is better than fans give him credit for

im not sure that seems so odd. anyone can watch a player for a full 90 minute game or two, the fact they've been picked to play indicates they are half good to start with. I think thats what makes a scout, seeing something in 5 minutes that others might be missing, or might be very well suited to your club/managers style.

TYBM said "He does nothing but score goals".

Christ, that's shit that is. Imagine a striker whose sole contribution is to score goals. Can't believe we've wasted our money on someone like that...

Me neither but in the Ian Chapman interview in this weekends Sports Argus Ian names him as the best manager he played under. Although thinking about it he didn't play under many did he.

Just Lloyd, Brady and Case wasn't it?

Case released him didn't he so he can't be too happy at him. Why the hell did we release him actually? Because didn't he end up going to the Gills who were a division above us at the time?
