In a semi drunken stupour last night I watched the highlights of the Chumpions League ... can anybody shed any light on why Glasgow Rangers shirts has their sponsors (Carlsberg) blacked out?

My guess would be advertising alcohol at sporting events is not allowed? Or maybe even advertising alcohol full stop?

Anyway, what self respecting person would even THINK about buying Carling anyway?:whisky:

You are not allowed to use an alcohol company as a sponsor in France.

True but Liverpool are sponsored by the same company.... I dont think Ive ever seen their shirts blacked out ....

I know that there is a regulation afoot banning "booze" slogans on childrens replica shirts which will affect 5 football teams (Liverpool.Everton, Rangers, Celtic and Hibs) along with a number of Cricket/Rugby teams but cant see that this has any bearing....:drink:

I'm suprised Carlsberg haven't come up with an alcohol free beer which they can put on the front of shirts in France

great 'loophole' idea

plenty of 0% sold over here. Holsten and Moussy are the best. Barbican and Bud are OK. EFES is rank

I'd like to believe it is the 'France ban' reason, at least that would be understandable.

But I see the hand of Heineken, who have poured tens of millions of official sponsorship money, being quite happy not to support Rangers on this.
