Huge success, massive ratings, 2nd series already in the bad. I predict this is the first of quite a few rebooted 90s light entertainment shows (obviously without the racism and misogyny that plagued the era), Bullseye already the next off the conveyer belt with Paddy McGuinness hosting.
Can we have a revamped version of Surprise Surprise with Ricky Gervais as host ? SKY, Netflix and Apple and even Paramount + would be quids in !

It has been a televisual triumph.

Barney Walsh is fast becoming ‘Mr Saturday Night’ giving us a double dose of charisma playing the affable ‘Barns’ in Gladiators and the enigmatic ‘Cameron’ in Casualty.

I had the misfortune of turning it on when Matt Morsia "Legend" had been penalised for some sort of scissor manouvre which he tried to explain his way out of by saying he couldn't have done it as he has a medical condition and can't close his legs....embarrassment of a show...

Watched a couple of episodes and it's harmless enough. Quite like the actual games, but not a fan of the Walshes or Mark 'Poundland John Anderson' Clattenberg, whose accent seems to go all over the place during the course of the show.

I think you might be taking him a bit too seriously, he’s “the wind up merchant” character, quite clearly he’s casted to take the piss a bit.
Just the same as viper has been cast as the “nasty bad guy” of the show.

Maybe but it was cringey nonetheless..

I watched Saturday’s first quarterfinal & am confused due to the on ongoing injury of one of the quarterfinalist’s they replaced him with a random stand in rather than one of the fastest second placed heat contenders?
We wondered that as well. Seems a touch unfair. We decided, in our heads, that they had tried to bring back one of the previous contenders but they weren't available.

The guy they brought in was brilliant though.

Worthing
I think it’s terrible, especially with the insufferable Walsh’s.

However, there is no doubt it’s a great family show, and youngsters clearly enjoy it.

Well yes.

I think of watching Gladiators as a free pantomine every Saturday night. The kids get to boo a villain, get a few positive messages about personal health and fitness and I get to perv over a few scantily clad 20 somethings.

I really don't understand why anyone would have a strong objection.
