I back on to woods and playing fields so would make sense. Most years I normally get wasps nesting in my eaves but they are tiny compared to the beast I had in my bathroom earlier.Yeah, hornet. My old house backed onto a common, and it was quite usual to see one flying around - usually banging on the windows.
I suppose if the wasps relocated to the west of Brighton they would have their own song :
“Hive Hove Silver Lining”
Time for me to buzz off.
Saw one just outside my house and I'm a couple of miles from you.Was out walking near Lindfield the other week and saw the biggest hornet I've ever seen in my life. It was terrifying.
I just hope that you weren't a couple of miles away from your house, when you saw the wasp !Saw one just outside my house and I'm a couple of miles from you.
And to think that Ultravox were kept off of top spot by a song that included the line ‘Wasp a matter you’I suppose if the wasps relocated to the west of Brighton they would have their own song :

Time for me to buzz off.
Actually one flew into our guest bedroom last summer. Caused a commotion indeed.I just hope that you weren't a couple of miles away from your house, when you saw the wasp !
This was in my house. The guest bedroom is within not two miles away.Actually one flew into our guest bedroom last summer. Caused a commotion indeed.

If there was one in my house I would be very happy if it flew out of the window.Sadly it flew out the window before I had chance to get a picture of it.
Wasnt far off that!
They are evil looking fuckers. But they don’t seem to be as aggressive as wasps. They certainly don’t buzz around your face repeatedly like wasps do. If they did, I think I’d be too scared to leave my house. Was just sat in my office at home and heard a very loud but low buzzing noise coming from the hallway. Thought WTF is that so went to investigate. It was coming from the bathroom so went in there only to be presented with what only can be described as a giant wasp. It was probably an inch a half long and was as round as a dart barrel.
Just had a google and I'm guessing it was a European Hornet. Says they are quite common in Southern England but I've never seen anything as big as that bugger before. Are they common? And do they get to be as big as that?
Sadly it flew out the window before I had chance to get a picture of it. If it comes back I'll be prepared as I'll hear it coming a mile off.
Bloody hell I've already got an XL Bully next door so I don't need any killer wasps pitching up!Might bee those killer bees the Daily Mail said were coming a few years ago.
