What's happened to English football?
No decent goalkeepers when we used to have world class keepers on a conveyor belt.
No obvious English candidate for a replacement for a manager whose biggest success as a manager was losing a UEFA cup final.

Calm down.

Stevie Coppell WILL save us...er..at the world cup.

Someone needs to take that umbrella off him and shove it right up his f8cking sh*tter !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was thinking the very same thing! Amazing that.
But you are, joking aside - totally right. He should never come out to the sidelines, with his players getting soaked, showing his care to stay nice and dry from a few raindrops.

NOT TO MENTION that Bridge was useless, he shouldn't have EVER blooded a rookie keeper in an important game where there was no going back if he screwed up, our opening tactic was so moronically predictable it was a joke, and it was played exactly like England were run by rank amateurs.
"oh".
Anyway, I won't mention those things, as the brolly was enough on its' own.

Not so. James is now a decent goalkeeper. Now that he's an experienced player, doesn't make those big gaffs, makes amazing saves and is in top form - we won't play him. He had his chance when he was still learning, and making terrible mistakes between the sticks, ....like Carson just did.
Don't you see how it all makes sense now?

Me either.

I had a bit of sympathy with McLaren in that he has been unlucky with injuries, but if he had played a sensible formation from the start tonight and not thrown an inexperienced keeper into a big game we probably would have got away with it.

After the Russia game, some people on NSC were happy to blame the players and not the manager.

I wonder if they still feel the same now.

McClaren has failed spectacularly - his tactical incompetence and lack of any form of leadership quality is truly astonishing. Failing to qualify for the only tournament of which he was in charge makes him the worst England manager of recent times, if not ever.

The decision to replace him should have come months ago.
