I never thought I would see an Albion player I liked more than Lawrenson, then we singed Knocky, who I loved, his enthusiasm, his ability and his directness.
I’ve always had a soft spot for Solly, his tenacity to come back from 3 career ending type injuries, his quiet determination to be the best player he could possibly be.

I think Georginio may surpass all 3 and become my favourite Albion player of all time. He’s mad as a March hare, but, what a player. I just love watching his enthusiasm and all round joie de vivre. He must be an absolute dream to share a dressing room with.

No wonder Welbz calls him ‘velcro’.

Half of his power is appearing not to have the ball under control. Players commit and then bang, he is gone.

Ourselves and Leeds Utd paid our record transfer fees for him. But he could have at least 10 good years at the top level in him. Thanks goodness he is ours. Thank goodness our scouts, algorithms and databases convinced Tony forcefully take Leeds’ best player away from them. He is way too good for them and the Championship.
Also thank goodness we don't buy players based on fan perceptions - there was a distinct feeling of "I'm out" at the start of this thread...! 😂

Yes, quite happy to admit I was a bit unimpressed paying that for a championship player from a small club.

How wrong I was, best of the summer signings based on performances so far IMO.

Was noticeable today how many times Bart pinged the ball to him down the centre instead of tapping it to the CBs……knowing if it hit him, he’d instantly control it, hold off any challenge and make use of it.
He's very strong on the ball. Surprisingly so for someone with his apparently slight stature. What a player and what a character.

Top class player and us getting him is real evidence of the incompetence of the 13 or 14 financially more muscular sides. He's be useful for literally any team.

Is he Rutter or Georginio?
We call him Georginio, he has Georginio on his shirt so why do commentators call him Rutter, and then is he Rutter, as is ruts in the road, or Rooter, because he gets called both.
"And Rutter runs through and scores", who, what, that guy who scored has Georginio on his shirt.

And on video I've heard him refer to himself as Georgi.

I was chatting to a dirty l***s fan at the airport last week and they were really pissed off that he went

He said that Georginio was the best signing they had made since the Revie days

Quite a claim but he is mightily impressive

I always think watching football on TV means you see a lot less of what a player brings to the table than when you watch them live. Most of my previous experience of him was in TV games for Leeds, where I thought he’d always underwhelmed.

I’m happy to have been proven wrong. He’s a really clever, powerful player who’s improved hugely as the season has progressed, and he’s been far and away the best summer signing so far, even taking into account Minteh’s improvements.

And yet when he left they were saying (as reported on NSC) he was possibly the third best player they had to sell in the summer
(after Jimmy Somerville, and some other bloke whose name escapes me).

Ho, ho, ho. :lolol:

Definitely true. Its also really clear live how much stronger while is in the flesh. His hunched over style is unusual but opponents bounce off him and the ball sticks to him in awkward places.

It's telling for our style of play that we have 3 strong forwards who are exceptional at holding onto the ball and releasing it at the right time. Something Evan needs loads and loads of work on despite his size.
