looks like a standard fare was purchased and when on boarding the train first class was available an upgrade was purchased.seems very sensible to me why pay for first class if it is not available.as someone has said a non story.
The one thing I cannot stand on trains is people who insist on sitting at a TABLE and NOT playing CARDS.
Haha, Tossed off at Lewes
Why do that when you can share porn with your secretary!!
All MP's used to have warrants for first class travel, always used to see Denis Healey travelling between Lewes and London, perfect gent unlike the present bunch.
You can do that in one of them airline seats, so f*** off.
Not sure but I thought I read somewhere that following the expense scandal, they can only claim back the standard fare so I suspect the aide/PA books tickets at that price. The issue here is not really about the price but more the intimation that he couldn't possibly sit in standard accommodation, ie that it is beneath them.
But you can also play cards in said seats, if just the 2 of you!
Can you f***, nowhere to but the money and the communal cards.
So why didn't he just buy first class tickets at Wilmslow where he boarded ?
Because he is clueless?
No money or communal cards in snap!
Meh....I read it also as an aide trying to look good, he paid, what's the problem?
the intimation is put there by the reporter to make the story, and in everyones head because its old toff gideon. my point is, the story doesnt ring true. i'd expect a Chancellor to sit first class, as i would an company directory, or ordinary businessman needing a bit of space, so would get first calss ticket in the first place. therefore i put this one down to cock up, if the expenses are fixed at standard then that would explain it.
Erm ok(!) Why on earth do we have first class segregation in 2012 anyway? Everybody (plebs included) arrives at the destination at the same time?? In addition, whenever I travel on trains, first class coaches/sections are invariably empty. Unlike the rammed standard class seats carriages.
