For me, the battle against injustice has always been primarily one of class and not race. Police brutality in black countries illustrates this point well enough.

However, the historical context of the USA means that race will always be a major factor too.

That story you linked is absolutely tragic. Like you say, beggars belief that the police officers were acquitted.

Edit: On reflection, I should add more detail really. My tendency to prioritise class over race probably comes from my own lived experience.

In truth, I feel, Kimberlé Williams Crenshaw and her theory of Intersectionality actually hits the nail bang on the head when all said and done.

I would have fully agreed with you until I moved here. Race is the major factor of injustice in the US

Yes, I can well imagine it is. Given the history of the country.

And if that's your lived experience, I wouldn't attempt to argue against it.

note the video of Floyd being arrested a previous time not been discussed . Massive pain in the arse wasnt he.

Doesnt justify if the officer gets found guilty but the history with this character is there to see.

Minnesota abolished the death penalty in 1911. Even before that, it was a judge that handed it down, not police.

to be brutally honest an overweight ,dim witted copper pulls over a service man and decides for no apparent reason to mace the **** out of his head , at least he didn't shoot him but for **** sake what is wrong with the system in America where Mr .potatopeople are turned lose with firearms to police people who aren't really doing anything wrong ......??

Maybe it's because of the HUGE amount of un-necessary guns in circulation the police worry that everyone they stop may well pull a gun on them, hence the overreaction or getting the first shot in.

Verdict due before 21:30.

Quickness of deliberation points to conviction of all charges according to BBC experts.

This. Must be a nightmare to police certain areas in America not knowing what is going to happen to you. Unfortunately with the breakdown in trust on both sides then these kind of incidents will happen more.

The late Robin Williams once said that guns for everyone should be legal but, bullets should be $10,000 dollars each.

Obama tried to clamp down too but failed, mostly because it is " unconstitutional " to have high powered assault rifles banned.

It came from the lawyer who defended Trump in his first impeachment trial and it came before the announcement they had a verdict

On LBC today their expert said that if US politicians appeared to take one side once this jury was sent out, there can be no consequences, because the jury was kept away from all news sources/media and had their mobiles taken away from them, also no calls allowed.
