This thread seems to have lost its impetus?
Last night, I thought I'd try and take a few "light trails". My first attempt incidentally and I'm sure I'll get better.
This is one of my efforts.
It's much easier than I thought.
I believe I should include these details according to the photo mags;
Nikon D80. Nikkor 18-105 lens. 20 second exposure on f/24.

Very nice Graeme :)

Very nice!

Did anyone manage to get some pictures of shooting stars last night? I'm sure there'll be more opportunities tonight if not. I didn't even see any, but got some pictures of stars, I'll try and put them up soon.

Edit: On second thoughts, just put mine on the computer and they are all crap :facepalm:

I post a lot of photos on 500px, I started with a d3000 18 months ago, it proved a fantastic camera for a novice like me and 2 months ago bought a Nikon D5100 which is brilliant!

Have a look at dpreview.com. Biggest photography forum around. If you can sift through the drivel then there is some really good advice. Bit like NSC.

Oh good call. I used that site when buying Canon Rebel 2Ti. I think it's called a 50D here but bought it abroad and it sounds sexier!

I know it's kind of cheating, but Camera Bag for the mac is a great simple app for adjusting photos. I took some in gloom last year, accidentally keeping a tiny aperture and low iso. They'll never be perfect but the programme helped me cheer up a bit.

It's a nice shot Jack, but if it were me.
I would have shot it 15 mins earlier, when there was a bit more light about and more blue in the sky. I would have also set the aperture at F16, and shot with a shutter speed of 6 or 7 seconds. 20 second shutter speed for me is a bit too long.
