That doesn't equate to voting for the antithesis of what you believe in because of one person. I might agree with you on his electability, but given all the negative press, the media campaign against his character, his ability to lead, perhaps as great a character assassination any modern leader has had to endure through the press, and yet the polls suggest his popularity is growing, the polling for Labour is growing. I don't think he'll be elected, but I am impressed of the fight he is making of this election, and the conviction he is showing in his beliefs. He isn't changing his mind because the shit hits the fan 3 days later, he's stood by it and people are listening.

Even if this voting for Labour only leads to a series of climb downs by the Tories on things like Social Care, the NHS, then I'll still consider that small victories.

I've seen no fight of note from Corbyn. He's just going about the business of electioneering in the way we would expect a party leader to do.

And with the Tories showing arrogance and ineptitude every single day, he's not been required to do any more than that to bring about a recovery in the polls.

As an aside, I do wish they'd found a way to bring Clegg back for this election. I have a lot of time for him.

Yep. He got a hard time as Cameron's wing man but he actually talked a lot of sense, watered down some of the right's nuttiness and kept some decent centre / centre-right policies in because they made sense. I had time for the coalition, I really don't for the Tories on their own.

Agreed, Clegg was savaged unfairly for moderating the Tories. They took 23 years to win and election, and in 23 months created division on a scale unseen in the modern era, then unleashed another election no one wants

They should be planning for Brexit, there is so much to do, instead we have wasted effort on this campaign

I'm certainly not doing that. But it really says something when someone as looney left as him denounced Corbyn in such strong terms.

There were others that I do respect such as ROSM and Herr Tubthumper who both, I recall, left the Labour Party due to Corbyn. Again - not ringing endorsements.

I think a lot of people (myself included) were not enamoured with Corbyn because he struggled to show leadership qualities and for a long time looked to be unelectable. What cannot be denied is that he believes in what he says, and if you dig beneath the surface he has strong, established positions on foreign and domestic policy. May has gone large on a head-to-head 'trust' approach to Brexit, but if you want a politician to set out their principles, stick to them and not shilly-shally according to the wind, then Corbyn looks a better bet than May.

May has gone 'all in' on her 'strong and stable' line but then, with the U turn on social care policy, totally shot herself in the foot. It was the Tories' to lose, and rather like the Albion and the Championship, they are in some danger of so doing.

I'm not sure I can agree with that. He has come under more pressure than I can perhaps remember any party leader being subjected to from within their own ranks, their own press, the media in general. He has withstood a barrage and has he changed any of his beliefs to appease any of those people? No, he has stood by the mandate he got elected to leader of his party on, twice, and put that into costed clear policy without diluting it to appease. That has taken fight. Really disingenuous to suggest he has just gone through what any other leader has and its just the business of electioneering. You might disagree with his policies, but I think he will come out of this election with a lot more respect than he went in with, and he will have earned it.

What an embarrassment many on this site are. Get out of your Hanover vegan, public worker, remoaner socialist pseudo Islington homes - & pop over to anywhere else in Sussex. Corbyn is going to get his arse kicked, kicked & kicked. Labour is an utter irrelevance in most of the country. Whip yourselves to a fever in your 3 square mile radius, but prepare yourself for a 100+ deficit & Bexit.

Well, it does appear you are an expert on embarrassment.

And unfortunately many elderly people seeing if it would be better to spend some money on travel to Switzerland and a final appointment with Dignitas to enable them to pass on more money to their loved ones rather than seeing the value of their house eroded away by the Dementia Tax

I run my own business in rural East Sussex and stand to gain from the Tories' cut in Corporation tax.

But I think May is running a shambolic campaign and Labour look the more coherent in terms of policy and credibility.

The stupidest thing of all is that May had a mandate for another three years as PM and there was no need to call an election as nobody wanted one except her.

The EU has made it quite clear that a larger Tory majority will have no effect on the negotiations. The election is being staged for the internal convenience of the Tory Party, nothing else.

What's Bexit? Is it a new chocolate bar? How can one live in Hanover & Islington at the same time? How do you make a vegan home? Does it have to have a thatched roof?

The policies are irrelevant for this election. We are facing the biggest changes to the Country in a lifetime with Brexit and just need to make sure we have the best people in charge to handle the tough negotiations, decisions & fallouts that will transpire. How some think that is Corbyn is frankly shocking, delusional & laughable.

Good evening Theresa

14 out of 16 MPs in Sussex are Conservative. After this election I suspect it will be 14 or 15. I actually feel sorry for the Labour supporters on this site trying to whip themselves up thinking that some 1970s red revolution is going to sweep us away.

I agree with all of that, but I think you've gone off your original point which was "I am impressed of the fight he is making of this election". I'm certainly not disputing the fight displayed to get to the election in the first place.

I don't think he's done anything exceptional during this election campaign to date. He's done what I'd expect a leader to do. He's been handed a chance by a Tory party that no one could have predicted would be this shambolic. If he were up against his old adversary David Cameron, I suspect his stock would not have risen as it has over the last few weeks.
