Has it ever been cool to vote Tory? I am nearly 50 and it certainly wasn't when I was in school in the early 80's. It was much like now - the Labour supporters were very noisy and the Tories were very quiet.

Quietly winning.

Seeing as the Tories need at least a 4 or 5% lead over Labour to win a majority it will be interesting where this sudden surge in votes will come from, a Tory party in disarray, the leader sunning himself in Portugal despite half the world being at war and the only policy they can come up with is more demonisation of benefit claimants.

As the Tories couldn't win in 2010 despite their being the most unpopular PM of all time against them how the hell will they win in 2015 when the whole country knows what a nasty, devisive, spiteful, incompetent government they are.

I love the way [MENTION=6886]Bozza[/MENTION] and his groovy gang are GLOATING, just hope that some of proposed changes that the DECENT people fought against don't come back to bite you or your family personally

In terms of 'biting', I think it's reasonable to expect a return of fox hunting. Trying to explain to your kids why you voted for the return of bunch of toffs charging around the countryside with saliva dripping from their gluttonous mouths as they watch another poor beast being ripped to pieces by a pack of brutally treated dogs could be tricky?

Labour won in hove because they pumped a huge amount of money into a highly charismatic candidate, while the Hove candidate was a very grumpy looking (I'm sure he's not grumpy in person) ex police chief, whose campaign was fairly dismal.

The Tory was a stand in for the well known incumbent who stood down owing to Cancer. This 'incumbency bonus' helped other 1st time Torys more than the difference needed to retain in Hove

I think children are very understanding. The people that can run our country the best, also like killing foxes. The foxes die so that we can live.

As I've explained many times - any gloating is solely aimed at you and you alone because of the the classless and humourless way you act when things don't quite go your way. You should take a leaf from your compadre, [MENTION=409]Herr Tubthumper[/MENTION]'s book, in how to react with some dignity.

My main interest in this election was that it was set to be incredibly fascinating, and so it turned out - just not in a way that any of us really expected.

The thought of how you reacted when the exit poll was announced fills me with great glee particularly because, as you posted here, "it's just a poll" before clinging onto some hope that the alternative YouGov poll might be more accurate. I like to think that you sat up, mouth agape, as the true horror played out in front of you. Ideally, in my world, you went to bed, clutching onto the crumb of comfort that at least the Tories hadn't got a majority, and that was to be your attack vector today. Then, when you woke, you checked and couldn't believe what you were seeing.

Regardless of how it played out for you, I know it was unpleasant, and that's enough for me.

You mean like Vince Cable who bodged the Mansion Tax @ £1m, immed raised to £2m after supporters complained and now gets voted out @ 1/7 by his own wealthy Tory constituents. Asking turkeys to vote etc etc

I've never been to the South coast of England and I always imagined Hove to be a posh place. How come Labour won it? Is it a bit like Hampstead, full of pampered Labour luvvies?
I'm not being funny, this is a genuine question.

15+ years ago Tim Sainsbury (yes them) won 5 times running with 15k majority. Since then wealthy old timers have been replaced by so many from the Smoke, 1,000 per year recently that don't eat meat, like buckets of coffee and didn't like the casino, which shut. Just Ain't the same

A chap at work has been banging on for weeks about Labour winning the election, tried to convince him to keep his money in his pocket..........but no.
He had a bet that anything under a Con 21 seat win would pay £15 a seat, anthing ove a 21 seat win for the Cons was also £15 a seat........up to £1000 pay out either way.
Rough calculations mean he owes the bookies over a £1000, but just has to stump the grand.
He was not at work today.

Should have got him on this thread I recall 4 recommendations selling Labour @ 278, selling Libs @ under 38.5, backing the Tory in Croydon @ 11/8 (won by 156...) & multiple times the legend Simon Kirby...and there were more but no'one like's an aftertimer unless they are losing ones like mine in Hove
