Congratulations to everyone who got their results today, whatever you achieved.

Whatever some people choose to believe, exams of any kind (and particularly succeeding in them) are bloody hard work, and that should be more appreciated by the grumpy old people who believe everything was better in their day far more than it is, and I mean that in terms of the country as a whole, not just NSC. :)

Clearly you have no knowledge on the subject whatsoever.

For a start, in English Gcse we write with a pen - very different to a key board.

Secondly, it isn't ALL on the exam, coursework is also included.

Lastly, spelling ( I know you commented on grammar) isn't worth a huge proportion of the marks.

I didn't think that exams were written using a keyboard (not key board), but don't see why it should make a difference anyway.

The fact that so much of the grade is based on coursework gives plenty of scope for help from parents and teachers.

The fact that spelling doesn't count for much is a disgrace. Try sending out a CV or job application with crap spelling and see how far it gets you.

I woudl say at least 95% of cv's now are done on a computer so why does he need perfect spelling??

Next you'll be telling me you are allowed to take calculators into the exams.

I would say close to 100% of CV's are done on the computer. Spellcheck is not oging to pick up their/there etc. etc.

That is not the point though. It is important to have good smelling. I have clients email/write to me and I cringe at some of the spelling. Alright, it is not the be all and end all, but it gives the right impression.

The only person being GRUMPY about it all was Nibble, NSC's very own paragon of virtue, with a career comprising being a 10th rate jobbing actor and a part-time cleaner, who described GCSEs as 'piss easy' - f***ing wanker.

The so called 'old people' will, I think you'll find, be more aware of the hard work that goes into GCSEs because we have children who have worked their COCKS off to get a decent start in life.

I thank you
