Guys, hate to SPOIL the parade, but Justin Hoyte (his brother) is the reserves captain, and first team regular. Gavin Hoyte (our new player) has NOT played for the first team. He was U18's captain two years ago. He is now 19. He was on loan at Grays Athletic earlier this season. Last season he was on loan at Weymouth and Cambridge Utd. I imagine the Grays website (or whoever) just has his DOB wrong. Please don't get over excited...

Justin Hoyte moved to Middlesbrough 18 months ago so I am impressed he is still Arsenal reserves captain.

Wrong on all counts!

After a very busy 2008/09, this season could be pivotal for pacey full-back Gavin.

Following Havard Nordtveit’s loan move to Salamanca last summer, Neil Banfield named Gavin the Reserve team captain for the campaign. Some sturdy performances in the second-string earned the defender Carling Cup starts against Sheffield United, Wigan and Burnley before making his Premier League debut against Manchester City in November.

However the Gunners’ elimination from the Carling Cup opened the door for a loan move. Arsenal’s training ground neighbours Watford were more than happy to oblige and the versatile defender made 10 appearances during a short-term stint at Vicarage Road.

In addition to club football he was also a regular for England Under-19s helping the young Lions’ qualify for the European Championships. In December, Gavin, brother of former-Gunner Justin, put pen to paper on a long-term contract with the Club.

Because he's also played four times for ACTUAL Arsenal. And plays for England Under 20's.

I work with about six Arse fans and two of them watch most of their reserve games on Arse tv one guy (who played for Arsenal as a kid) says he is quality but might get found out if he doesn't have adequate cover from the midfield.

He's going to be good, he's got a bit of pace to bomb forward.

So, in summary, the one we're getting is good, the other one isn't, and some people have been owned in this thread.

Gavin Hoyte joins Brighton on loan

Young defender Gavin Hoyte has today joined League One side Brighton & Hove Albion on loan for one month.

England Youth International Hoyte had a very busy 2008/09 season, in which he was named Reserve team captain for the campaign by Neil Banfield.

Convincing performances in the second-string earned Gavin his first-team debut in the Carling Cup against Sheffield United in September 2008, which was followed by further appearances in the League Cup against Wigan Athletic and Burnley.

The 19-year-old made his Premier League debut against Manchester City at Eastlands in November. However, the Club's elimination from the Carling Cup opened the door for a loan move. Arsenal's training ground neighbours Watford were more than happy to oblige and the versatile defender made 10 appearances during a short-term stint at Vicarage Road.

In addition to club football, Gavin has also been a regular for England Under-19s, helping the young Lions' qualify for the European Championships. In December, Gavin, brother of former-Gunner Justin, put pen to paper on a long-term contract with the Club.

Gavin will join up immediately with Russell Slade's squad in preparation for their match at Yeovil Town on Saturday.

Everyone at Arsenal Football Club wishes Gavin the best of luck during his time with Brighton & Hove Albion

In the Gavin Hotye news near the bottom of his Arsenal profile page it has nothing about this apparent loan to Grays nor Weymouth, in fact he is in most of the reserve team reports, I'm pretty sure the one who played for Grays and Weymouth is a different player.

That is true... and I think it's slowly dawning on people now.
