I thought it was the cup game we won 2-1 in that same season? I went to both Brentford away games that season and can't remember any of the goals except that one!

you may well be right I convinced myself it was the league. we definately were down the side of the pitch for The Goal though. Seem to remember for the other game we just had behind the goal.

Most definately the FA Cup. We were given by Brentford the usual open away end behind the goal and half the covered terrace as it was then down the side. Nelson beat 793 players, most of them 14 times before unleashing a bullet of a shot in to the onion bag.

I thought he beat 971 players, one of them nearly 500 times before slamming the ball in from 85 yards out!

That was a great cup run, beat Brentofrd 2-0 away in the 1st round, beat Northampton 2-1 away in the 2nd round, beat Bournemouth 2-0 in the 3rd round then narrowly lost 2-1 v Arsenal in front of 26,467 at the Goldstone.

happy days (all in all a great season finsihing with Promotion!!)

Right.

If I really recall correctly, he beat over 2,000 players, all of the crowd, an infantry platoon, the inhabitants of a nearby zoo - including the penguins - most of them 762 times each, even speed-shagging around a couple of hundred of the crowd en route, before shooting from a neighbouring postal district into the top corner with his tongue.

If I recall correctly.

It was definitley the cup game and came via a corner cleared to Nelson just outside the penalty area on the left wing. He charged up field beating three or four players before unleashing an unstoppable drive from just outside the left hand side of the box. The ball rocketed into the top far corner and was met with jubilation by the Albion supporters behind the goal and those in the main stand.

Does my rather accurate description prove I was there and subsequently warrant a Man City ticket?

Almost correct.

I believe that he did beat all these players whist doing keepy uppies and reading the Times newspaper.

Quality goal too!

It was the best goal ever. (was it 1st or 2nd round)
Sadly we will never see it again.
I was standing in line with the penalty area, think we had one half of stand where Zippy fired it in from.
Not sure why there was no footage as i`ve still got the goals from the Northampton win on tape.

Great atmosphere,we had the open end behind the goal and half the terrace with a roof down the side.
It is the best Albion goal i have witnessed.

It was 1st round, then we were away at Northampton, then Bournemouth and Arsenal.
I just remember going absolutely mental when he unleashed it.I think Brentford were near the top of the league like us at the time.
