I vaguely remember the Northampton fans running on the pitch after the 2nd round game and for a few moments looked like being a problem.
Then the police came on with a few dogs and they beat a hasty retreat.

I went to all the games in that FA Cup run. 14,000 for Bournemouth at home, 26,500 for Arsenal and all this after a SHITHOUSE draw in the first two rounds (Northampton & Brentford).

In that Arsenal game, Nelse scored a FINE acrobatic equaliser and Kevin Bremner missed with a shot on the turn in front of the north stand from about 5 yards out that would have put us 2-1 up. :(

Talking of Garry Nelson, I have a mate who has just been for a job interview last week with Nelson's travel company - he met GN in a pub, said he was a top bloke. Come to think of it, this mate of mine is also a family friend of Nicky Forster - it's all wasted on Middlesbrough fan. :nono:

After the wonderful goal at Brentford, I seem to remember he went on to score an equally memorable one at Notts County soon after. In fact it may have been even more impressive since he was handcuffed to Petula Clark at the time.

When we bemoan the lack of character at football grounds nowadays it is worth bearing in mind that some were UTTER SHIT even for the time.

I remember Northamptons top boys making a bit of a show on the pitch like they done a few bus windows. Oh how football has changed.

Great atmosphere,we had the open end behind the goal and half the terrace with a roof down the side.
It is the best Albion goal i have witnessed.

It was quite simply the best goal i have ever seen......live. For those of you not there it was as good if not better than Ryan Giggs goal against the Arse in the cup. It was also very similar to that goal
The Brighton Fans also went as wild as i have ever Known.........will never be bettered methinks.

Agreed. Hope you have not all done this to death already on here, so apologies for posting if so, just reckoned that in the IT age I might be able to refresh my fading memory.

Errr, and they showed up in town before the game, to have a bit of a scuffle with those who had avoided being herded onto buses by the cops at the railway station.
