Amazing 1st episode, best start to a season I can remember for all of the Characters (story wise). Most disgusting final scene too...

I disagree with Lyndhursts comment - in my opinion I thought they developed virtually all of the characters stories, just because there wasn't a 45 minute castle siege or gladiator style 'pits' battle doesn't make it a bad episode! Certainly beats some of the episodes in the previous two seasons where everyone just seems to be travelling from A to B!

Enjoyed the first episode for the most part - a useful reminder to viewers of who is where, and what they're up to, as well as some stuff that will set up future things (the last scene, in particular).

I have never seen GOT although I was bought the first book for Christmas and I dip in an out of it.

Am I correct that it's on Sky Atlantic? The channel that virgin are not allowed and sky put all the decent series on?

I am finding my NowTV passes are ramping up recently. Too many nom Albion Championship games on Sky Sports and now GOT on Entertainment for a month, which will no doubt run to three months.

I found last night's episode a good reminder of where we are with the characters but I didn't find it too gripping. I'm sure they were just scene setting.

As has been mentioned I enjoyed last nights greatly. Good to catch up with where everyone is and resolved a few issues...

Enjoyed it myself i would agree that no a great deal happened but it certainly set up series 6 nicely. There will be carnage this season, Here's hoping it will be one of the best. I am looking forward to Cersi and Jamie's mass revenge across the board. Sansa whipping up the north to kick the Ramsay's arse (with out without John Snow and the Wildlings).

Can't wait!

Brilliant opening episode. Some great action, shocking violence, a touching moment, great performances (Lena Headey in particular) and a gripping revelation at the end.

I wish they would bloody kill off the sand snakes through - they are just so cringe worthy.

Agreed, they are a bit shit.

Must say I wish jorah the explorer would help me find my car keys in the morning. The way he found that ring was incredible.

NowTV does a 14 day free Entertainment package trail, which has Game of Thrones S1-5 and a new S6 episode every Monday. After that it's £7 a month, which I'm going to cancel after Season 6 finishes.

There are some decent shows on there, but the package doesn't include movies, which would be another £10 a month.

Anyway, I thought the first episode was great. I've been reading up on the casting updates for this season, so know a few of the plot points and returning characters. It sounds as though it's going to be as exciting as S3/4, rather than the slower, but still good S5.

The only weak plot is the Dorne stuff, although it was fairly action packed for roughly 5mins screen time this week, I have no idea where it's going. Doran Martell is on a par with Varys or Littlefinger in the books with his plotting, not sure if the Sandsnakes have it in them to do the same.

I thought that was done quite well, the way the Dothraki surround Dany at the end of S5 makes the place she was standing easy to find, the only fresh grass on the plane, plus Daario and Jorah now know where to look for her, rather than dragging the search out.

I suppose you are right, they also hinted that they followed charred animal carcasses.
