On another note about Vegas, I was very surprised that there's a Lush store in the Miracle Mile of shops. And got to watch Everton vs Burnley from a sports bar in there with a cocktail so strong, it was basically glowing. Marvellous.

Shocking amount? Nope. But I GENUIENLY thought I was about even. I honestly believed I was betting a tenner a weekend.....and then I properly checked it and it was far far more.

I immediately stopped my online accounts and now go with a physical fiver to the bookies on a Friday, place my bet and that's it. I feel a million times better for it. It also has made Saturday's so much more fun. I used to sit there, constantly checking my cashout. Now, I have a bet slip. If I win I win, if I lose I lose.

Going back to the theme of the article, I.e. complaints about bookies, I have just this week come across my first limiting of stakes, due to winning!!!

Since the start of the new football season I have been placing a number of late goal or both teams to score bets and had racked up £4,500 in profit with William Hill. Yesterday, when attempting to cover a.losing bet I discovered I could only place small bets and was limited to maximums of around £20!

I am not match betting, or anything else that could be considered underhand by the bookies, but simply playing the odds and making astute choices of bets, with a win ratio of 65%.

William Hill’s loss though as I will move on to another bookie.

It appears bookmakers don’t like winners...

I spent three days in Vegas in early May, staying in a hotel on the strip. What was most amazing was how every shop turned into a casino - even a Walgreens! You walked to the back of the store and boom, casino. It was bonkers beyond description. As a reformed gambler, I had no problems at all in ignoring the temptation and instead getting pleasantly drunk in the bars and watching all the sports on the huge bank of screens on one wall. It was a paradise of sporting entertainment and the serving ladies very quickly left my friend and I alone, knowing we weren't going to be splurging.

To echo what others have said, the psychology of the place is amazing. Constant music from the gaming machines, no sense of time or reality, oxygen constantly being pumped in and loads of winning jingles being played all the time from the various one arm bandits around. So easy to get trapped, but of my group of 4, only one of us pumped $10 in a machine and walked away with a pay out slip of $0.79, which she kept for the memory. We then had to stop her pumping in another $10, because that's how the problems begin!

Final thought on the casinos in Vegas, what few people spot is the CCTV cameras overhead. I pointed them out to my group as we walked in and they couldn't believe it, every inch of the ceiling was covered by them. There is nothing they're not seeing the whole time you are there.

Delighted for you that you visited Vegas and had a great time while keeping a distance from gambling. I'm not a gambler at all but when in Rome and all that......I set aside $100 that I was prepared to lose, if not knew. The very first thing I did (my brother and gf the same) was walk straight up to a roulette table and put down $20. Spun the wheel and lost it. The croupier says, "and that's gambling..." and gives us a sympathetic smile. I think the best thing to have happened was for us to lose our cash then, and I was thankful for the frankness of the croupier. Must see so many desperate people.

Anyway, end of day one I was another $100 up, an hour in to day two it was all gone. I could and should have quit while I was ahead but it's easy to forget that mantra, and finished instead with an echoing house always wins. Vegas doesn't build those shiny marble casinos from the money they lose.

So now I'm after a new, easy to use, (yes I know they all are) online bookie for my fiver on the Albion bets.


I don't really want to sign up to half a dozen bookies in order to find one I'm happy with so was hoping someone on here, who's familiar with the Skybet lay out, can point me somewhere similar.

I don't care about odds.
I most certainly won't be signing on for any fishing in the stupid 'bonus' deals. (because I know how stupid I am)

I literally just want to put a fiver into my account during the week.
Have at bet, just after 2pm, while sat drinking a coffee in front of the club shop.
Mentally spend the £10,000 for Montoya opening the scoring and us beating City 2-4.

I use the Bet365 app. Nice easy layout, an alert option on your selections. You'd probably get better odds on Betfair or whatever, but I'm not a big gambler at all, just do a few quid here and there on a midweek and / or weekend acca, plus the baseball. I quite like the 'betbuilder' one they do as well, if I'm sat in front of a game on TV.

They jerked me around as I tried from 8am to get a bet on for Connolly to score the last goal at City (as said my betting is purely for fun not winning money ).

Isn’t the oxygen thing a myth? Apparently it would be highly dangerous and a massive fire risk. Cameras in a casino are also a good thing, quite a few times someone has tried to claim my cash chips and the casino watch the camera and sort it out quickly.

Consider they’ve also had 24 hours extra rest and Wolverhampton are having to play this game less than 40 hours after playing Man City, the 2nd best team in the league and having to expend an awful lot of energy in doing so.

This is pretty much like buying money.

Not really, Liverpool has several gears left in them, if anything it favoured Wolverhampton as it gave them a sense of injustice and spurred them to play better.

I’ve had a quite few back and lay football bets for similar winnings to that this season. Brighton have done me proud with many lucrative insurance lay bets on them not winning. But some losses eg ManU bankers, where they ended up not winning eg CP @ home.

Other than rare printing money low-risk moments, eg an hour before KO in the League Cup against Villa where Potter threw the tie, I’ve come to the conclusion that football betting will always be a loss-maker over any period. All three outcomes carrying either a great risk of failure, or a rubbish return for some risk. The sheer number of people betting and cashflows involved, meaning that nothing gets missed.

Horse race betting may give more opportunities, something I’m exploring.

There will always be winning runs on football. But as Weststander said, you can't win long-term on it. Maybe the best chance is following lower league football. Notts County to win the National League is a good bet. They've won their last three in an open division where no team has convinced. I think they're around 9/1 now in sixth place and with the size of their squad and getting used to tiny away grounds, they'll snatch the title from a minnow like Barrow or Solihull Moors.

First goalscorer betting has been ruined by VAR. But I did Manchester City to beat Chelsea 3-1 a couple of months ago. Raheem Sterling wrapped it up in stoppage time but it went to VAR and they disallowed it with the last kick of the match for a fraction of offside! I told myself never to wager ever again on the PL.

I used to bet nearly every day but it's something I don't miss at all. Spend the money on people you really care about! It saves a lot of your time as well.

If you’d have put a ton on Liverpool to win every league game this season you’d be raking it in. Given their incredible record and the poor standard of opposition and the fact they had an extra days rest today was a no brainier.
