Theresa May apparently knew there was a screw up 9/10 months ago and that was "fixed" apparently not minister think this is going to land on your doormat, this is a typical tory/labour snouts in the trough feck-up and it looks like our boys in the forces are going to have to get them out of the shite..................................again

The real money to be made was for 'training' up the 'guards', by charge the government, 'us', huge sums for telling people basically to use their common sense. When it actually comes to employing them and having to hand out wages, well that didn't appeal so they did the same as the bankers, hand it back to the government knowing they would have to solve the problem.
To still expect millions of our money for the pathetic and useless work done is once again a bloody insult and another case of just what a sodding rip off the olympics are, 'snouts in the trough'. So just what have they done for 200 odd million quid!!??

I am a current serving member of HM Forces. 30 of my colueeges from my squadrom returned from a 6 month tour in Afghanistan last MONDAY. They have been in work this week doing half days sorting out kit and administration, before 6 weeks leave was due to start yesterday. They were all gathered together with 70 others (who hadnt been in Afghan but were due to be starting summer leave), and told they will be leaving for London on Sunday evening and wont be returning until after the Paralympics.
At least half of them have families and children and have holidays booked which they wont now be able to go on.

My reccomendation to any members of G4S management who might read this, stay well away from anybody in a military uniform during the Olympics, they may just loose thier self restraint!!

That's a disgrace. Each member of the military who has to work at the Olympics should get G4S pay on top of their normal military pay. I'll be working at the Olympic site and will show the upmost respect to soldiers deployed there. This Govt treats them like shit.

Coming soon to a police officer near you ...

G4S proposed to pay 10,000 Olympic security guards £6.05 an hour, while charging the taxpayer £173 per/h

Is what I heard.

there was no way g4s could recruit that many! the contract the employers had to sign was ridiculous, it mentioned g4s could sue the staff if they did not complete the games

Comparing favourably with the £1700 per day we are now paying for agency nurses to fill in the gaps left by sacking nurses.
Not a wonder the economy is f***ed up is it?. Why the hell don't the NHS have an 'agency' section set up to employ temp nursing staff when needed, you can bet of that £1700 per day maybe £100 is for the nurses, even allowing for office costs etc, say £300 the rest is just wasted taxpayers money going to some greedy agency.
The NHS should set the rate they will pay for temp nurses, max £500 a day take it or leave it, same with G4S and their security staff don't accept being ripped off, why do idiots run these government hand out departments (unless they are on the take too!!)

What REALLY pisses me off is the fact that fans are being told that they can't bring a bottle of water into the stadium, because this will "compromise public safety", yet this bunch of shysters have been given the job to protect the event.

hardly new is it. You try bringing a capped bottle of water into the Amex! It doesn't get past the turnstile

Did anyone see Buckles performance this afternoon in front of the select committee? He was excruciating.

Guardian summary. "My impression is that the Keith Vaz list of adjectives - unacceptable, incompetent and amateurish - rather understated quite how disastrous Buckles's performance was. I suspect we may well have been witnessing 100 minutes of career suicide"

And now Buckles has promised to not to bill the Govt for people who don't turn up, pay penalties for these (non-) people's non-appearance, re-imburse the various police forces and MoD for services rendered, and pay the armed forces a £500 bonus for working at the Olympics.

He told this to the Commons Select Committee in a manner that made it look as though he almost certainly hadn't told his company first.

If you're right, he's just lied to the select committee. He was asked how much they would be paid and he said £8.50 an hour.

I thought that as well! To be honest he looked like he would agree to anything other than standing down.

Whilst it was good to see the buckle come undone, one thing is for sure and that is he won't be going hungry.

Undoubtedly this would all have been in the contract already, but I'm sure there would have been a few heart attacks in the g4s legal department
