We've had the same manager all the way through the close/pre season.

Update:

This season it has taken us 6 games to reach 16 points (12th September) - last season it took us 16 games (4th November)

Interestingly enough, we had scored 10 goals at this point last season, one more than we have this season so far.

However, we have conceded half the number of goals (4) in our first 6 games of this season compared to last season (8).

The win v Hull marked our third home win from three games. Last season, it took us until our fourteenth home game on January 21st against Ipswich to register our third win at the Amex in that campaign.

These ones go beyond comparisons to last season, but even so:

Today was our third win on the bounce: the first time we have won three consecutive league games since November 2013, when we beat Doncaster, Blackburn and Wigan under Oscar.

We have now taken 16 points from 6 games, our best run of form over that number of games since August 2012 when we drew with Cardiff then beat Barnsley, Burnley, Sheffield Wednesday :)lolol), Watford and Milwall under Gus.

This time last year we were still in the League Cup (or whatever sponsor's name it is called now)...........

.....but we've also got a manager who knows what h's doing, we've had a proper pre-season, with continuity, we've got some better players - and the prospect of one or two good loans to really put the icing on the cake!

So far we've had 3 clean sheets at the Amex by Sept 12th

Last season it took until Feb 24th to register our 3rd home clean sheet of the season. (Blackpool, Wigan, and Leeds in Feb)

And previous to that, the best run of form was the identical start in 2011. Following 5 wins and a draw and top of the table, we took a mighty 5 points from the next 12 games, failing to win any. Lies, damned lies and statistics...

Of the 11 players Brighton signed or took on loan last summer, only 2 were in the 18 this afternoon (Baldock, Stockdale).
Gardner, McCourt, O Grady, Toko, Texeria,Hughes,Bennett are no longer at the club. Colunga, Holla unlikely to feature in the 18 at any time soon.

A fact from today - we had eight shots in the first eleven minutes. We managed just six thereafter

This season, it has taken us 5 games to reach 13 points (29th August). Last season, it took us 14 games (25th October).

Kazenga LuaLua has equalled the number of goals he scored in 38 games last season (4) in 7 appearances this season.

Tomer Hemed has scored more goals in 5 league games than Craig Mackail-Smith (1 goal in 30 league appearances), Leon Best (0 goals in 14 league appearances) and Chris O'Grady (1 goal in 25 league appearances) managed in 69 league appearances between them last season.

With 4 wins so far, we are already 40% of the way to equalling the amount of wins we managed in the whole of last season (10). Also, after 3 away games, we're halfway to equalling the amount of away wins we managed last season in 23 games (4).

Any more?

Would be grand if one of our resident stattos could provide a game-by-game graph showing number of points on the board this season compared to last season. Or indeed compared to each of the Amex seasons.

Another comparison from last season. At this stage 2014 I wanted to slash my wrists and fast forward to the end of the season. This one I want to cause self induced love bites and fast forward to the next game!

CH stated already that he doesn't want any.

Never say never but unlikely I expect unless we get a major injury
....or unless we get the chance to borrow somebody of the quality - and good attitude - of, say, Wayne Bridge or Darren Bent. That could change CH's mind very quickly.

Anyway, why would he potentially demoralise his existing squad by saying, "Yes, I'm after loans to replace some of the existing first team"?

so, oddly we've got almost identical shots and shots on target compared to this point last season.

Our disciplinary record is the worst in the division, and more akin to the struggling teams. This will prove problematic later in the season (Kaz is already serving a ban after 6 games!).
