Just back. The first goal was incredibly stupid. I don’t remember us even doing that under De Zerbi. After that fought back well and really should have scored.

Baleba goal was great but clearly false hope. As I said on another thread we’re physically weak and playing against a side with Bassey and Traore in with no right back is suicidal.

We have to remember FH is a young guy in his first top flight job and he’ll learn, but from the team selection to the tactics to the physical application tonight was poor.
Yep all of this^

The subs were f***ing disastrous too.

FH was watching that from the main stand. The main positive must be that he will have seen with his own eyes just how weak, lazy and hopeless Adringa is on the right. He was no better against Soton but they didn't expose it as much. I was stunned to see him start there yet again last night, then I was mortified to see he was actually at RWB which meant he was supposed to track back, that was never going to work.

He will also hopefully have seen how uncomfortable JPvH looked on the right of a 3. Please don't repeat this.

How is it a false position? We have more points that 15 other teams having played the same number of games - and have played all the top teams as well.

A false position is when a team finds itself in an early-season lofty position after a relatively easy run of opening fixtures.
Ok, “comfortable” then

JP was shoved out to the right of a three to shoehorn Dunk back in, but it didn't work any better than against Soton. Ridiculous to try it again. Dunk looks so rusty. Should be playing Igor and JP at c/b with Estupinan at l/b and Lamptey for half a match at r/b. Anybody for the other 45m. I'm sure Moder could have covered there. Dunky needs to be a whole other level fitter before going anywhere near the first team.

We have been a bit unlucky with injuries the right back position these last few weeks, haven't we? With everyone fit, you'd probably rank the preference in order: Veltman, Hinshelwood, Ferdi, Lamptey and JPVH. Not quite sure why we went with the 5th choice instead of 4th - maybe FH thought that the narrow pitch would suit JPVH more than Lamptey?

For what it's worth, I actually think that Hinshelwood is the best RB we've have in the Premier League in terms of technical ability. Veltman gets the preference due to experience and shithousery though.

I agree that Dunk shouldn’t be starting at the moment. His decline this calendar year has been alarming.

But I think we played a back 3 last night due to our lack of RB options, rather than shoehorning Dunk in. With Veltman, Hinsh or Ferdi available I think we would’ve seen a back 4.

I actually really like a back 3 system, and think it could work well with all our players back. Veltman - JPVH - Igor would have to be the back 3 IMO.

For 70 minutes we didn't play with a RB, we played with a back 3. Clear as day. The bigger mystery to me was why play Adringa at RWB instead of Lamptey? Lamptey actually CAN play that position. Adringa absolutley CANNOT. I'm probably being a bit unfair on Adringa last night as it is NOT his position and he was probably always going to struggle there, BUT it doesn't excuse his lack of even trying to make a tackle or block, his working back last night was PATHETIC.

Veltman is an excellent defender, his other attributes are a bonus. Hinchelwood is an excelllent player, I don't think he's an excellent defender.

Hinsh may not be an excellent defender, but he's good enough.
Adingra is nowhere near it and shouldn't be asked to do it against a team as strong as Fulham.

I understand the need for making changes,.
But I have major issues with the choices, given the 3 matches we had scheduled in 10 days.

Last night's was always going to be the toughest and yet we chose to try an experimental line up for that one.
Hopefully Huerzeler will learn from it.

Has to be the heaviest in all of the football leagues.
AC/DC at half time was the only song I knew. Indeed they pumped it out so loud and heavy that the speakers shut down in the away end.

"The performance is not the result so I think that we have to be honest that it was good enough to win the game. We were punished for easy mistakes and you can make them in football. In the end, we created enough chances to win the game. We didn't get what we deserved today."

"It's the same principle every time we build up. We repeat it every day in training. Again, it's football. The players have to find a solution. We have to keep pushing."

"I saw it. I think blocking in the box, there are no clear rules. Sometimes the ref gives a foul, sometimes not. There are no clear rules."

"We get the points we deserve but today was not the case so we look to Sunday instead."
Not entirely sure I agree with the last sentence, IF he is implying we deserved some points. Personally, from my telly viewing, I thought we deserved ‘nil points.’

well that is probably because the home crowd were oh so very quite, it seemed worse than the Amex.

Imagine how dull it would be to sing come on you Fulham, Fulham, Fulham....

Loved the selection but "Common People" was a bit on the nose
Oh yes. As much a 'hairs on the back of your neck' moment as YNWA or GOSBTS.
But what were all those tunes pre match?
"Breathe" by The Prodigy for one

Weird performance and never thought we were winning that game.

I think we miss Gross in matches like this. An older, wiser head in the middle of it all to take some control of the situation and get the others going.

According to Silva, playing three at the back made it difficult for them. Explains Fab's thinking, rather than doing to it to accommodate Dunk, as has been suggested by some experts on here!

Fulham’s manager Marco Silva told Amazon Prime: “It was a big three points for us in a tough game. We started in the best way possible with the early goal but Brighton made it really difficult for us in the first half. They started with three at the back and it made it difficult for us to connect with the wide players.”

It will be interesting to hear next managers news conferance Lets hope he is asked some decent questions. Why did you play a back 3 when we looked so poor in 2nd half against Southampton.
Andringas best position is on left We spent £30m on a RW Why didnt Minteh play
Pervis has played realy good at FB Why did you play him LWB
Why did you take Pedro off Who do you think is more likely to get us a goal a tired Pedro or Ferguson
We may all like stylle of football but can you stop keepers passing to a player who has an attacker close to him

as 10cc say, not in hove
Last night was a typical performance at Fulham, but, imo, and I think others pre-match, that we simply had the wrong set-up. Adingra was poor, and on the field far too long. It showed the inexperience of Fab. Injuries etc etc I get, but the subs were also too late and wrong. I'm surprised that Crofts didn't have words before k/o because that was all so predictable
