Weatherist or not, it is absolutely persisting down at Old Trafford... any prospect of play today already looks slim and is receding rapidly.

Now not even bothering with 1700 inspection. Be very surprised if any further play today

Even sillier is test matches in Wales and compounding it by playing the games early in the season, madness.

All jokes apart, it's actually a bit pathetic that it is sunny there now, and despite millions being spent on the ground, one small area down at 3rd man / fine leg makes the entire match unplayable.

Stupidly they had a warning of this last Friday when it flooded according to Bumble, and they could have set the boundaries in a bit - not hindsight, just common sense.

Ridiculous that we're going to lose this much play in playable weather because the drainage isn't up to scratch in one of the wettest places in the country.

*EDIT - days play abandoned in bright sunshine due to one small area unable to drain. :censored:

Enjoyable seeing Paul Farbrace being interviewed. Seems like an affable figure who would see on any local circuit.

An Education for the casual cricket fan to see that the finest side in the Country that should walk the County Championship every year is only denied it because they have to play their home games in a veritable SWAMP.... :(

Excepting 2011, that's been their ongoing excuse for 80 years....

Although, in fairness, the year Sussex pipped them to it weather played a major part.

Weather looking OK for now, surprisingly for such a grim northern venue.

Important session ahead for England... bat well and we can press on into a match winning position - weather permitting, of course.

Going in to day 3 (having lost most of day 2 to the rain and subsequent sogginess) England are 237-6, leading by 85 runs, with Joe Root 48* and Jos Buttler 22* at the crease, with Woakes, Broad and Anderson to come.
