We will need a hell of a lot to pick up the slack from losing Bridge, Upson and even Vicente....I feel our whole momentum is drifting away. A high profile manager will pick up the pace for us, but time marches on.

Why? What's the problem?

Do you honestly believe players will not sign for us at the moment?

Do you honestly think the whole club and transfers/contracts side of things is at a complete standstill because Poyet is suspended?

Do you honestly think the club have said to Matt Upson, Wayne Bridge et all, sorry we can't talk at the moment, Gus is suspended.

I seem to recall Poyet promising us a striker on loan back in March. I also seem to recall he never fulfilled that promise. So what make you think having/not having a manager in early June is going to make that much difference.

Also bear in mind, players are contracted until 30th June. I don't think the transfer window officially opens until 1st July.

Players know, that outside the Premiership, this is THE club to play for. In all honestly, if I was a player or manager, I would only see Leicester as a more/has as an attractive club than us at the moment.

Whoever we get as manager will continue a similar passing style. The club has been built around that.

And whoever is the new manager will be a top notch manager, because the club is in a position to attact a top class manager now. I would be amazed if a number of lower Premiership managers are not coveting it.

Calm down. Take deep breaths.

For as long as Tony Bloom is in charge, I for one am as happy as a pig in shit.

I still can't decide whether this is spot on or so far off the mark it's unfunny.

Some fans reckon we cannot sign any players without a manager being in place, and yet can't wait to sell Bridcutt to Palace for a pittance.

Either we are in the transfer market at the moment or we are not.

I think that now the majority might think the latter
Based on what?

Please don't say Wayne Bridge. As much as everyone hoped he would stay, do you honestly think we had a hope of signing a player that was earning £5m a year?

No doubt he has taken join Reading on a hugely reduced salary, but I'd imagine is well out of our price range.

Maybe you think if Gus Was in charge, we'd have just signed Wayne Bridge

Like anyone... people want to know where they are going asap so although the transfers are not finalised till July 1st they are agreed on from the last competitive game onwards... which was how long ago?

It a fact, no one is going to choose us when they dont know who is in charge, unless they are from a lower division... for example how would you feel is you were Mathew Etherington and after signing you find out the new coach is Tony Pulis?

Bridge has gone, Upson may stay, and what, realistically, did Vicente contribute to last season's 4th place in terms of time on the pitch?

The OP is talking absolute HORSESHIT.

That is all.

If only all threads could be summed up so concisely, I know I'd get a lot more work done. Top darts.

Craig Mackail Smith turned down leicester and West Ham because of Gus. Anyone who thinks top players are going to sign for a club without knowing who is in charge and consequently what style of football is being played, how much he is likely to feature, if he is going to get on with the manager and his training style, etc. is being naive.

The transfer window not being open is a reason to not panic yet. But players do like to know who they are playing for before signing.

This. Who knows whether Bridge could have been persuaded by Gus if he was still at helm. No one knows.

Anyone who thinks not knowing who your boss is wouldn't put you off signing for a club is mad. Certain people don't fit under certain managers. You certainly wouldn't gamble your future on whether a bloke you may not have met like you or not. Not to mention whether or not you fit in with the style of play or formation.

You don't KNOW that WB left just for the money. If you do, please prove it. Otherwise, stop spouting rubbish.

Or a better manager than Gus. As you say, who knows?

I have no proof that Wayne Bridge has gone to Reading for the money, he may have a deep affection for the Thames Valley, a strong desire to work under Nigel Adkins or just wants to be nearer Slough.
But I reckon he will be getting double or more what we could offer, so I reckon it's the cash.

i was told by a brighton scout that bridge only came to us because of poyet. so i think it is very important to have manager in place. if poyet was still an active manager perhaps bridge would have stayed!!

If you seriously thought we had a chance of keeping Wayne Bridge without getting promoted..... then I don't know what to say. There was no way we could afford him without the premiership.

If you know WB didn't go just for the money and went because he have no manager, then please prove it. Otherwise stop spouting rubbish. :nono:

Why do people keep asking everything to PROVE something the may not agree with.

Its an internet forum matey. It's opinion's. Stop spouting this prove it crap.

If everyone had to prove everything or opinion they out on here or any other forum, they may as well all be closed.

If that was the case, maybe he would have held off signing for Reading, as Poyet is only suspended.

So you think the uncertainty over our manager had NOTHING to do with WB's decision. I don't KNOW either, just pointing out that you are making an assumption.
