Anything good out there at the moment?

The only thing I've got in the bookcase to read is Steven Gerrard's autobiography. Now, I've got little interest in him, and will only turn to it if i can't find anything else. But I'm growing a bit tired of footballers autobiographies - they're all sort of the same aren't they? I've just finished reading Ryan Giggs' attempt, and although it's ok because i find the footballer quite interesting, there isn't really much in there that everyone doesn't know already.

So is there anything out there 'a bit different' that can be recommended? Or can anyone review Gerrard's book? Or are there any suggestions of good autobiographies to read?

Similarly, is there anything Albion related I might have missed? I read 'A few good men' after Christmas, which is actually bloody good - particularly seeing as I don't really have any knowledge of 90% of the players! I've got both Gary Nelson books, which are fairly decent, but i'm not sure if there's much else out there. Gordon Smith, Alan Mullery, Phil Stant - any of these worth a go?

Many thanks if you can help!

I've got a cracking book called 23 sweet F.A's about two students taking a table football around the world. I would very much recommend it.

Interesting - i'll have a look at what Amazon reckons to some of those.

I've got the Roy Keane one - it's generally very good, but the controversy surrounding it makes it all the better!

Cheers all - any more suggestions most welcome!

Not read it yet, but I'd imagine Neil Warnock's autobiography is a better read than most. Can't imagine any single Premiership player's ghosted biography is worth picking up, even from the bargain bin. Lawyers will have crawled all over it.

Tony Adams and Gazza are both good as not entirely about football so a really ineresting read i found.

Non football wise you could try reading winning by Clive Woodward I found it really insightful about the management processes invovled in building a world champion team

pointless by jeff connor is a good read. not autobiographical but i enjoyed it enough. he followed east stirlingshire for a season - a complete comedy of error after error, it is a bit more fly on the wall than the poncey auto-bios that are around.

king john by john charles as well. i am a little bit biased but it is a good book - should be handed out to the prima donnas of today - no worry about their tomorrows but it wasn't always that way.

my father and other working class heroes - by gary imlach.
