I guessed as much, but hadn't had the opportunity to check. Have you checked in game, or is there something online I can refer to regarding player updates for the entire squad?

Not the entire squad but FM published thus article that has a lot of useful info in:

Good to see Mitoma and Ferguson get upgrades. I had to sell Mitoma before the upgrade and it really hurt me.

I managed to sign Jude Bellingham with the huge transfer budget. He was delighted to negotiate terms. So it’s a cracking midfield.

I signed Trubin in goal so Sanchez isn’t happy but also no interest from other clubs.

I’m trying to ship out Undav and Gilmour.

I started a new save after the update, Brighton are given a 70m transfer budget and a spare 220k p/w in wages.

No signings of yet but looking for a box-to-box midfielder to pair with Caicedo in the DLP role. I play Alex in the 10 role as a shadow striker. Colwill is now an absolute beast of a wonderkid after his huge upgrade to his potential ability so signing him is my number 1 priority I think. Webster unfortunately is so injury prone both in game and in real life.

Sanchez is a bit meh in FM, but will keep him for this season at least. His contract is up in 2025, and in my experience he isn't likely to resign unless it's insane wages.

Started a new career after the update, but obviously they didn’t update the fact we no longer have Potter syndrome. I thought I’d left xG nightmares behind me ffs.

2 missed pens also... if that was me I would be having to fork out for a new laptop after its predecessor met its end flying out of the living room window

And the disallowed goal was one by an inch too. Then to top it off the Forest winner was a 30 yard thunderbolt out of nowhere.

My laptop is very lucky to be intact.

Well and truly FM'd!

I started a new save post winter update too, all I can say is play Ferguson every single minute, he's an absolute BEAST and develops quickly. Someone did a simulation with him as a starting striker for Madrid on YouTube, 16 Ballon D'or in 20 seasons. Scored like 950 goals, 70 in one season.

I'm glad Mitoma is finally useable too, because before he was just awful in game.

I'm still using a 4-2-3-1 - Balanced mentality

SK - Defend - instruction to take fewer risks

WB - Attack
BPD - Defend
BPD - Defend
WB - Attack

DLP - Support (In the DM position) - instruction to pass shorter
VOL - Support (In the DM position)

IF - Support - instruction to sit narrower
SS - Attack
IF - Support - instruction to sit narrower

AF - Attack

Tackle harder on all player instructions

In possession: standard attacking width, pass into space, shorter passing directness, higher tempo, time wasting never, final third low crosses, run at defense.

(If you have a beast of a striker who's like 6'5 then you could select float crosses). I purchased Beto from Udinese and he's an absolute MONSTER with 17 heading at 6'5)

In transition: counter-press when possession lost, counter when possession won, distribute quickly, distribute to fullbacks, distribution throw it long.

Out of possession: Defensive shape (high line of engagement with standard defensive line), trigger press much more often, prevent short GK distribution.

There is a De Zerbi tactic from RDF if anyone wants to try and replicate our style. It might work from the off but it definitely didn't work with my side four seasons in!

https://www.rdftactics.com/post/de-...l-overporming-fm-23-results-best-fm23-tactics

This is the tactic I'm using at the moment, going really well so far:

But then again, not hugely surprising, given my current first choice line up is:

Diogo Costa

Lamptey
Timber/Dunk
Gvardiol
Estupinan/Theo Hernandez

Caicedo
Mac Allister/Gravenberch
Bellingham

Mitoma
Abraham
Ferguson

With Julian Alvarez, Colwill, Enciso, Sarmiento, Devyne Rensch, Isak Johanneson, Nico Williams and an elderly Antoine Griezmann making up the rest of the squad. Won one PL (second season), one League Cup and one FA Cup so far, new CL format is killing my squad though so last season was a bit of a flop.

I managed to get Welbeck to win the European Golden Ball in my first save this year.

31 in 31 in the Prem alone, beating some kid called Haaland who managed a pathetic 29.

Anyone got a good tactical system that works post-update? My original 4-2-3-1, which I’ve been using in my new save, has now flopped.
I managed to get an absolutely bonkers system working again that I used a few FM's ago.

Don't ask me how it works but it just does.

Managed to get third in the Prem missing out on the final match day.

If anyone is looking for a bit of muscle to play alongside Caicedo I highly recommend Khéphren Thuram from Nice. 6' 4", only 21 years old, Really balanced player, with great physicals. After the winter update he will cost you around 20m and commands around 50-60k P/W.

I purchased him in both Brighton saves (pre and post update).

What goal keepers do people recommend, it's January 2023 on my new save (post winter update).

I was trying to pick Anatoliy Trubin from Shakhtar, his contract was up in June 2023 but there must have been a one year extension clause. Not sure i can risk waiting a whole year as he may get snapped up by someone else, or sign a new contract.

Giorgi Mamardashvili has a release clause just shy of 25m, but I used him in my last save and he needs 2-3 years to develop.

Elia Caprile doesn't want to leave Bari as he just signed a new deal

Dennis Seimen is one for the future as only 17 still.

I think I got Trubin in the summer of 2023. On one save, I have Trubin and then Caprile as backup, but it takes a while for Caprile to become interested. He was cheap, though, around 6m. You should be able to get one of them in the summer of 2023.

I'd stick with Sanchez until you pick up one of the above. Trubin went straight into no1 spot and is solid.

I haven't tried to sign Bazuna but might be worth looking at.

I like Roony Bardghji as well and rotate with March.

I enjoy the odd things that happen in FM. As the CPU tends to be fairly realistic, United's plight is an interesting one. Rashford is still there, think I will unsettle him in the coming weeks. Did the same to Saka when Arsenal were around the bottom three and ended up getting him for 40m plus my third choice right-back.

Ruud Van Nistelrooy took United into the shit before the Wayne Rooney/Steve McLaren dream team plunged them to new depths. They signed Andi Zeqiri (I sold him to Basel in 2024) for £25.5m to be their new number 9 in January and yeah, it hasn't gone well for them.

I couldn't fit top spot into the screenshot but it's us, by three points. Brentford finished fourth last season behind Chelsea, us and City and have just knocked Real Madrid out of the CL...

RDZ has also been in charge at West Ham since July 2023 and totally revolutionised them, despite them flogging Rice to Liverpool as soon as he rocked up. Funnily enough, Solly March is one of his key players. They finished 5th last season, we beat them in the League Cup final and they knocked us out of the FA Cup. RDZ and I are good pals though, so no hard feelings.

Bear in mind this is 2026...

Rizzo is decent as a youngster too.

Seimen wont join until he's 18 but gets incredibly good.

I got a potentially world class newgen in my first intake so am keeping Sanchez until he's ready.

Only problem is he's low determination at 16 years old so I've brought in Buffon and Pasveer to mentor him.
