Whitehawk not quite Xmas but a point clear with game in hand and a whopping 8 points plus game in hand on 3rd.

Nigel Winterburn as a coach and Geoff Horsfield as Assistant Manager

Some good signings including Jamie Smith ex Brighton (and Scum)

Couple of regen 15/16 year old full backs to develop and some stud youngish CMs plus Edgar (ex-Millwall I think) as a wide forward. Need a promising CB for next season really and could use a star striker as got alot of small nippy guys and Mills whilst he's banging them in can't be relied on if injured

Finished sixth in the Prem with Brighton in our second season at the top We were one point behind Swansea in 6th and 4 points clear of Newcastle in 8th with three games to go against Arsenal away, City at home and Reading away. The point at home to City was enough to get us there on GD despite the other two being defeats.

Now have Rescaldani, Fierro and Kerzhakov as my strikers, looking forward to tearing shit up with these three playing up top together in a 4-3-3 next season (at home to shite teams).

2013/2014 CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL LEAGUE POSITION:



So, a pretty comfortable league championship win in the end, thanks mostly to a ridiculous unbeaten run which saw us constantly pull off increasingly flukey results to maintain "the run". Goddard-time especially was being played at The Amex, where I scored a ridiculous number of winners/equalisers in the 90nth minute...


CUP COMPETITIONS:

Our reserves managed a 1-1 draw at home to Man Utd in the first leg of the Carling Cup Semi-Final, but we were thumped 5-1 in the return leg at Old Trafford.

LEAGUE CUP

Lost to Man Utd in Semis 2-6 on aggregate.

FA CUP

4th Round Sheffield Wednesday (A) - 2-1
5th Round QPR (H) 1-2

Not too disappointed as, again, it was my second eleven.


TRANSFERS



January let me get rid of permanently injured Kemy Augustien and Peter Brezovan was snapped up by Man City(!) to play for their U21's. Work that one out.

I brought in Ayoze who did a decent, if somewhat expensive, job in the nightmare LB position, with Carles Planas an enduring shite-bag. Adam Campbell signed on loan from Man Utd, filling the gifted youngster-I-can't-risk-to-playing-so-sits-in-the-reserves void left by Cerri. Gomes was around the squad the entire season but rarely played. Chahed improved after a dodgy start and earned his (blue and white) stripes. Radosavilevic was signed as I planned to sell Bridders, but nobody came a-knockin'.

THOUGHTS:

Really enjoyable FM. Broken fullbacks still. Couple of silly (annoying) things happening still in the highlights. Keeper goes to catch long aimless punt downfield. Oversteps the penalty area. Straight red card. Three of those (one against, two for) in the season. Wingers refuse to pass across the face of goal, insist of shooting from the tightest angle and largely hit the keeper. No idea how to stop this happening.

A good season, a lot of fun and it took forever which I don't mind as I tend to do only one long career per FM title, then get bored and don't bother again until the new game is out.

Red card issue and full backs rectified in the update. As is the short corner... if u were using it

Couldnt get on last night but will tonight. First season in the prem started awful with three draws and three defeats but just won our first game at home against Stoke.

My two-star rated LB has won Player of the Season three years running after getting 9's in pretty much every game.. He isn't very good, but I can't drop him or sell him because the fans love him..

I've only done one season so far - finished third and won the playoffs. Reading were runaway winners and finished 14 points clear. I had been on course to get second but a poor run in March saw Wigan catchup and overtake and I couldn't close the gap. The playoffs were pretty straight forward though.

Had a bit of a clearout in the summer - any reasonable bid for a player that wasn't essential was accepted and replaced with a younger cheaper option. Signed Kasper Schmeichel as main GK on a free and bought Lee Camp in on a free as backup, to replace all three existing keepers.

Sold Greer, El Abd and Upson (he was available on a free at the end of the season but received a bid for 20k two weeks before his contract expired. Very odd) and replaced with younger free/cheap alternatives of equal or better ability. Sold Barnes too and again signed a few cheap/free attackers and midfielders of equal/better ability.

The only players I spent big on were a £2m French centreback and a £7m French centre mid, both rated as good Prem players, both 23 and both can 'improve significantly'.

On the eve of the first game the squad looks like it should be more than capable of avoiding relegation and from there it'll be a case of stabilising and bringing in talented youngsters that will bloom into key players or have a big resale value - I'm in no rush to race up the league

Did you download the lower leagues database or just add MO to the Skrill?

Think the Fb issue has been pretty much sorted so it might be your tactic. Ive played daround with a few tactics and found with a few the FBs are fine and with others they are not. If you are on steam the last update should ahve already kicked in.

I'd be interested in anyones ideas on who to sign during the first year in the premier league once promoted in the first year with Brighton.

Getting promoted was a breeze as we have in every position someone that can be considered a leading star, Augustein and Orlandi were my star players along with Buckley and Plenas or whatever he's called from Barca B. Playing a 4-1(DM)-4-1

Now promoted I can only find dross who are decent in the Championship, not sure my scouts are doing a very good job TBH. The 20m doesn't stretch very far.

I'm new to football manager (always used to play the fifa manager series) so was wondering if anybody has tips on tactics and formation for Brighton? Any essential things that need doing in the first season, for example, replacing staff? I'm also struggling to get to grips with the training.
