FFS!

yet again this 4 in 26 shit rocks up.
(3 in 23 in 18/19)

How many more times!

9 starts
944 minutes (total)
20 shots (9 on target)
4 goals

1 goal every 5 shots is excellent in the premier league (Maupay is 1 in 9)

Yes exactly this!

Hughton massively under-used Andone in 2018/2019, same as Bissouma, I remember crying out for them both to start every week. Two of the reasons that cost Hughton his job in the end IMO.

His header against Newcastle was a better goal than the one v Palace IMO, we were desperate for a goal and it was a superb header.
Which makes me think of a question - when was the last time one of our strikers, in fact anyone of our players, scored with a header?

Great point this.

Connolly, Maupay & Trossard are just not a threat in the air.

Welbeck certainly has the height and power but has not scored enough headed goals to be seen as a specialist.

Zeqiri has great potential but Andone’s leap & technique is fantastic.

There have been a number of times when Maupay or Connolly have had great heading goal scoring opportunities, Andone may well have gobbled those up.

Did he? I'm pretty sure everytime he seemed about to get a run of games he got injured and suspended. And we had Murray.

And Bissouma played more in Hughton's last season than he did in Potter's first

He was injured for the first five games including one EFL cup game with an injury we knew about when we signed him and then was suspended for just 3 matches for the West Brom incident. He only picked up 5 yellows and no on pitch reds in that season so his disciplinary record was hardly terrible (yes the West Brom thing was stupid).

He was available for 37 matches in total that season and started just 11, and never started more than 2 games in a row so he never got a fair run.

And Hughton's reliance on Murray was a problem for us and I totally understood why Andone got frustrated with that. We were absolutely dreadful in the second half of that season, actually most of the season, and legend that Murray is, he wasn't contributing enough to the team. He couldn't run much and certainly not at any speed, 1 assist all season and only 4 goals from open play (6 in total) from 25 games from the end of November. That's worse than Maupay's record this season from the same number of games that we're all complaining about but Maupay does contribute a lot more to the overall team effort. Maupay has also come on as sub in some games whereas Murray always started.

Murray should have been moved out of the side as the season went on and Andone should have been given much more of a chance.

As already mentioned Bissouma was injured when GP took over.

Hughton absolutely didn’t play Biss enough IMO. Dale and Proper were undroppable under him, and I wouldn’t be surprised if we still played them both if CH was still here.

All of this!

Not that I wanted it at the time. Big fan of Muzza and wanted him to go on forever.
But Andone was brought in to take over the mantle and was never given the chance.
I can understand his frustrations, because he was certainly good enough to be given the run of games necessary to prove himself.

This is my only complaint on Hughton, he had players he trusted and they were massively overused.

Playing Izzy at the end of his last season was a terrible error and it achieved nothing (apart from potentially ending his Premier league career)

How soon is now?

That really was a terrible error of judgement. He was so off the pace and quite obviously unfit in that game

Christ.

This thread keeps popping up and I click, thinking the little b'stard is in the squad, only to find it's a post by some dickwit like me handwringing about when or if the little tinker will emerge from the undergrowth, into the team, to karate kick a winning goal.

**** off all of you. **** right off.

“Andone may find it hard to break into the Brighton team when he does return, however.

Neal Maupay is the club's top scorer this season with seven goals and Aaron Connolly and Danny Welbeck have two goals apiece.

And Andi Zeqiri and Percy Tau are also vying for a starting spot upfront.”

Hard to break into the team?

My word the bar is set low if that is the case.

He could play in a partnership with Maupay and be more effective than any other striker this season. More of this please:
