Not a good atmosphere and Pinsent inferring it may have kicked off in the crowd as well.

The Chinese crowd seem rather less than thrilled by the decision.

This is what I love about the Olympics, some of us probably couldn't have explained exactly what taekwondo was this time last week, much less would have had any idea who Sarah Stevenson is and now here we all are hoping to cheer her into an Olympic final and being annoyed because she got screwed in her last fight.

In truth, one of the tenets of TKD and all martial arts
is honesty.

The chinese girl (or her coach) or both should have
admitted that they lost and even declared that
they had lost the fight!

Sorry if that sounds ridiculous..but that is the spirit of
martial arts (and this is not some sort of Karate Kid film
fantasy wish either).

I agree the Chinese girl knew full well so had cheated her way through so that was dissapointing. Surely she would not have felt good knowing she lost the game but went through.

Uncle,

Spot-on.

How could you feel elated at winning gold/silver
if you knew you had been falsely put there...

As a person you'd have to feel false.

If I was the Chinese girl I'd have gone straight
to the judges and declared myself out of it.

Looks like she's on to claim the bronze at the moment, 3-0 up coming to the end of Round 2 (of 3).

Wins it 5-1, so she gets our first ever Olympic medal in the sport.

WTF, the Chinese girl did not cheat. The bad call was by the corner judges. I bet this isn't one competitor at the olympics who would put their hand up and say 'it's a fair cop I was actually beaten there so I will withdraw and foresake my chance of a gold medal for another four years'.

It was great to see the decision reversed but unfortunately you can't do that in a lot of other sports.

How did she not cheat? She knew that she had been hit, she knew that it was a 2 point score, she knew that she had lost. She decided not to say anything. I am not saying that other people would have admitted it, but that does not change the fact that she cheated.

In football if someone goes down in the box when they have not been touched and is awarded a match winning penalty, is that cheating? Of course it is. Just because people do it, and do not admit it, does not change the fact that it is cheating.

She didn't cheat full stop. The judges got it wrong. At worst you could argue she took advantage but that's it. In a fight like that, and probably for amateur boxing, a fighter is also likely to consider that they have had hits that didn't count by the judges. There are probably fights that Stevenson has been involved in where she has been hit but her opponent has got a point. Do you think she would have held up her hand and said ' no sorry, that was a good hit and she should get a point.'

If you find a fiver on the pavement do you hand it in to the Police. I bet not but I bet you don't consider yourself a thief.

Get in the real world and leave the self righteous crap to the priests.

At the end of the day, the sports governing body got it right and that is a credit to them as it would have been easy to let it stand and let the host nation go through.

If you like to win and achieive something by cheating and knowing you have cheated to the win fair enough. I think most people would rather win without cheating and not devalue the hollow victory that would come. Each to their own.

I saw the bronze medal bout with our 17yr old GB lad yesterday and thought he was, if not quite robbed, extremely unlucky with a few decisions.

Was flicking through today on the red button digital thing and stumbled upon probably the biggest controversy so far.

Bronze medal bout between Cuba & Kazakhstan. Cuban bloke went down injured and was receiving attention. The clock was set at a minute for him to get up and continue by. With 10 secs of said minute left the ref warned him of the time. With the Cuban still receiving attention as the minute ran out the ref instantly disqualified him. Commentators said this was ridiculous as there is normally only penalty points given or a little lee way on the time anyway. Result ?.......injured Cuban AND his coach went absolutely ape shit !!! and the Cuban ended up KICKING the ref - proper jump up Tae Kwon Do stylee ! - and tried to punch an official. Took a few minutes for the coach to finally lead his bloke from the arena and they were both still protesting as they went. Meanwhile, bloke from Kazakhstan didn't help matters by running around with his national flag celbrating his Bronze by default medal.
Both the Cuban fighter and his coach have since been given a life time ban from the sport.

Outrageous scenes !
