Fiscal Failings from Labour Again

It's amazing how the Tories still manage to convince so many that they are the party of fiscal probity. They always manage to lay the blame on the Labour Party for whatever benefit cut or tax increase they say "Have" to impose to balance the books. A recession caused by American banks has been blamed on Labour and somehow recovered thanks to cutting benefits and services that have hit the poorest and weakest in society.

Yet, somehow, despite this, and selling off whatever family silver is left in public ownership they still get people to believe they know what they are doing !

Yet somehow Mrs May espouses that she wants a society that works of everyone and in order to achieve this the cuts to education, social care and welfare will continue. How does that work then Mrs May ? lets just keep hitting the poorest and weakest and then nearly everyone else in the form of reductions in council services and social care. Yet, when Jeremy Corbyn supports the low paid, the disabled and those at the lowest end of society he is ridiculed ?

Yes - because he hasn't got a clue what he is doing.

He appointed McDonnell as Shadow Chancellor which tells you all you need to know

"a self-proclaimed socialist who wants to remove the universal suffrage" - did you overlook all the question marks? I was asking questions. I wasn't saying I wanted anything.

It was one of your worst ever posts, indefensible ..... however if it was somehow uber ironic or something else then I apologise.

I'm not sure that small and medium businesses actually form the backbone of the economy, I'm pretty sure that your inference of small artisan independent businesses propping up our economy is misguided. Have a look at the generic shops on most town and suburban high streets, the same national or global brands make up much of our economy. Much of this based on low or minimum wages.

As for bank holidays, it won't make much difference to me as I work most of them at normal time anyway, in fact. last Christmas I was told that Christmas Day and Boxing Day came out of my holiday entitlement for the year...... I said that that is not fair , I said " OK then, I will come in to work then " and was told that I could not come in to work as the shop was closed !!

As far as I am aware (haven't googled), a small business is defined as less than 50 emp!oyees, medium as up to 200 employees. This IS the real economy in my view, not 50 companies with 2000 staff, or government organisations with 20,000 folk. The real turnover of money comes from those WORKING to create and survive, and turnover of money is the REAL economy.

Irrespective of what size business is the backbone of our economy the simple economic model is the same. Wages go up so to compensate businesses have to raise prices so those who had a pay rise ending up paying more for their goods thus negating their initial pay rise. Simplistic but true

One of his worst posts ever?!!! Did you not get invovled in the last election thread :lolol: The questions HT raises are good ones though, no one should be shouted down. Perhaps there are too many people who don't engage for whatever reason and are easily manipulated. The answer is probably better education though

You said it was partly in jest. Doesn't that imply that you think that at least in part that it is worth considering? Sorry, but you've expressed these views before and a few of your other post such as the driving licence analogy all back this up.

I might have been a bit strong in my response but I was genuinely shocked because my understand of the history of the Labour Party is that it was founded on the principle of fighting for the poorest in society and ensuring their rights.

Maybe not,but they did see there UK introduction.....Labour and the EU to be honest oversaw the banking crises and introduction of the food banks......it's hard to blame anybody really.

I know for a fact that there was a food bank in Southampton in 1996. The Prime Minister then was some bloke called Major. I'm fairly sure he wasn't Labour!!!!!!

Fair enough. My mate has his own business, Toyota in his words is "a mechanics nightmare, they rarely go wrong".....i can only speak as i find.

I have a Toyota Yaris which is 10 years old, I do have it serviced every year and the only time I had any problem was with the battery, which is hardly the fault of Toyota as batteries don't last forever. And, like you I heard from a friend of a friend who works in the trade that they rarely fail. Oddly though, I recently found out that my car was built by Toyota in France !

Exactly, mine is used for work and pleasure, needs to be reliable.

i have a 10 year old Mazda,i must admit i (me) fitted a new thermostat as was running too cool,i also fitted a new coil and burnt out spark plug and did pads and brakes oh and a caliper but never misses a beat,no advisories (i lie) a small patch of rust on the arch (they suffer this) although mine is better than most in this respect...on the last MOT,those years at college,at an auction and a breakers yard were never wasted...

saved £100s in labour and as i still have some tools i can tackle a few jobs, not all mind.

"£1,640,000,000,000: That's the record debt now owed by Britain"

And Hammond wants to borrow even more. Sadly there won't be an EU to bail you out when this goes tits up.

Tories, can't be trusted with the economy.
Yes the good old EU using our money to bail us out....I'd suspect that our ever increasing debt is caused by the EU and many other countries in it.
The EU is a middle man and nothing more and has done nothing for many many countries in severe debt and poverty....It's destroyed Europe and receives money for old rope and pays its staff £2 billion a year and lovely pensions for most politicians throughout Europe to add to that.

People are so blinded by this ridiculous organisation :glare:

I'd rather buy Japanese for 2nd hand cars.....although somewhat against stereotype and the grain,i have had much success with French cars mainly Citroen and Renault.

Tip-when buying any car, always check to see if under the engine area is dry,any vehicle that shows signs of oil contamination all over that area is an immediate walk away....have always done this and touch wood, have always been relatively lucky, that said i have a fair mechanical background and cars being cars, there will always be a Lemon (trade speak for a bad/poor car)out there lurking.

Edit: Unless you have a seller who has steam cleaned the engine and suspension, then you look closer for seepage and oil trickles, they could go one stage further and drain most oil out too, what i am saying is it's possible to hide faults....take a torch..

PM May has been very astute on judging the majority mood of the UK electorate and good on the rhetoric. It will be interesting to see if the manifesto matches the spin and if it is deliverable. Despite the dark shadow of our deficit/debt this election is a huge opportunity for the Conservatives, get it right they will be in power for at least ten years. (Mrs T 2.0)
