[NSC] First time whacked at a brighton game

So as a female you'd think I would have fared better than most but I seem to have quite a long list of incidents, mostly from the late 70's/early 80's. The worst was in a pub after a match at Nottingham Forest in the early 80's, got hit quite bad and ended up with 7 stitches above my eye (the guy had a ring on which did the damage), think I was about 18 at the time. Also got hit at White Hart Lane in the away end by a Spurs fan in 1978/79 when I was 13, just bruising that time. Had a knife pulled on me on a train to Palace, guy was drunk so managed to get away without any injuries. Got pushed about and chased at Newcastle, Pompey and Wolves. Lots of other minor scuffles, it came with going to matches in the 70's and 80's. All of the worst stuff happened when I didn't wear any colours, since it became safer and I wear our shirt to matches I've not really had too much trouble! Maybe I've also become a lot older and wiser though too!

The Cheshire crew you run with are pretty tasty, to be fair. I imagine any trouble is soon averted by a scary glance from Mike or the ginger prince.

Moral of the story?

If you're up for a scrap, head for the nearest fast food outlet...

Mine was outside a wimpy pompey away 85/86.hated em ever since.

Wolves away 1991 - we won 3-2. That subway - punched on head from behind and the guy ran off . Very brave of him.

Mine was Birmingham City 1989. we won 2-1. Three of us (very young and stupid) decided to walk back to the station afterwards and one (not me) had a replica shirt on). All ok till we got in the town centre and saw a big group of lads outside McDonalds. One of them lamped the bloke in the shirt straight away and the others surrounded him. We stopped and were clocked by those on the edge of their group.

Derby away in the play-offs. Me and a few mates had booked a hotel for the night. We’d been on the piss all day, and went back out on it after the game. At some point late in the evening we stumbled in to a Burger King and got chatting to a bunch of kids a few years younger than us in the queue. They were all Derby fans and it was quite a polite conversation apart from with one of their group who was probably 16/17 years old, 5’8 and 20 stone. He was just a mouthy c*nt for no real reason.

Was that the game where a handful of Lincoln fans decided to be in the front row of the away end and then celebrate when they scored? Let’s say they got a fairly good kick-in from a fair few of our fans after that and were then escorted out.

No, can't remember that happening. Think it was last game of the season, Lincoln fans went on the pitch after final whistle and our group rather stupidly decided to join them which attracted some attention. We were 'ambushed' outside the ground, fortunately a much larger group from our lot (clearly looking for trouble) were nearby so all ended well.

Had the odd moment of wacking opposition usually pre-game though.

Bristol Rovers away, late 1980's

The game was played at Twerton Park, the Gas were groundsharing there for a few seasons. I was in the waiting room at Bath Spa station long after the game was over, waiting for my train back to London. I noticed a couple of men come in, then next thing l knew l was laying on the ground with a broken nose. Strange how l was singled out as l wasn't even wearing colours, so no idea how they knew that l was an Albion fan.

i saw through your story as soon as you mentioned that you were strolling along with some members of the faces. If you had specified which ones your story might have had a bit more credibility, as long as you didn't include rod amongst your contingent, especially in that get up...
