The Downsman in Hangleton. Now called the Inn on the Downs. Used to pile up there from school in an old cortina.

The Sportsman as is was then known outside Hove station prior to going to Goldstone!!

But I also started drinking in Worthing "The fountain & Thieves kitchen" (as it was also then known)

Oooh, not sure. Would have been one of:

Crown and Anchor - Shoreham
Crabtree - Lancing
Kings Head - Shoreham (Now demolished)
Crab - Shoreham (By the station, now called the Crabtree I think)
Lady Jane - Shoreham (Now the Riverside/Waterside Inn)
The Ferry - Shoreham
The Burrell Arms - Shoreham.

I THINK it was the Kings Head, but it's a long time since I was 14.

The Athens of the North
The Wilmington (now known as the Long Man I think) was my first local. My stepdad used to drink in there so I suspect that was the first place I bought a drink. I was certainly drinking there long before my 18th birthday.

The first place I can remember buying a drink on my own in town was Fagans underneath the ABC cinema in East Street. Long gone I believe.

Dandyman

In London village.
First places I bought a pint were the kiosk that used to exist in the north west corner of the North Stand (tell that to kids, today...) and at the Top Rank when I used to go and see groups play there.

First pub was probably The Swan in Lewes.
