[Football] First managerial casualty of the season?

From BBC Sport

"Raith Rovers have surprisingly sacked manager Ian Murray just one game into the new Scottish Championship season and two months after he guided the club to the play-off final.

Rovers say that despite last season's second-place finish, "results and performances since the turn of the year have fallen short of expectations" and the search for his successor "has begun".

So second place last season and sacked after one defeat. Must be more to it..

It was actually August 4th, saw it yesterday. Raith got to the play off final last season, I imagine there is more to the parting of ways than has been written. Still, a little bit knee jerk!

August 5th.

That's pushing the button early!
They actually sacked him yesterday…BBC reported it yesterday ..might even have done it after Saturdays match :)

You have to wonder what thinking goes into these decisions….its a club that reached the play offs…but they said that it was due to the poor form since the start of the year …ok so why wait until now one game into the season ..its not as though they were hammered

Edit apols to coldean who had already posted it and like me spotted it yesterday

Is this a record, or can anyone recall a manager being sacked a few days before the start of the new season.

I would occasionally go and watch Raith when Dunfermline, Hearts and Hibbies were away, or not playing. It really was’2 men and a dog’

One game in and Preston have parted company with their manager

Preston North End were beaten 2-0 at home on Friday night by Sheffield United; A Preston statement said: "Following discussions that took place on Sunday 11th August, it was mutually agreed that now was an appropriate time for a change to be made.";

Appropriate time? 🤔

Shocking decision, really. Sack him at the end of 2023-24 or give him until Christmas, it's not as though losing to a freshly relegated Utd side is humiliating. Hardly the one-sided affair that Wednesday-Plymouth was if you look at the stats

Obviously not the First of Forth then. I’ll leave it at that. :blush: :bigwave:
