Just a view on the petrol pump bit ..I don’t interact with anyone when I fuel the van up ..pay at pump ..and when finished I was my hands before getting back in the van ..driving somewhere for exercise another argument

There is another issue that if you crash your car you'll take emergency services away from what they should be doing at the moment. Yes it's unlikely for it to happen to you, but if everyone thought that and were driving on the roads then that would clearly be a problem. Imagine how many fewer road traffic accidents there must have been the last couple of weeks.

I think you would have to be quite specific that you were within say a 5min walk of your home, and had your address details on you to demonstrate you don't have a garden if asked. I don't know, as you posted above rules can be interpreted, I still think that is a definitive instruction that you do not travel unnecessarily, and strapping bikes to the car would be unnecessary. Another person may think it's necessary - I can't think of a reason why it would be, roads are so quiet probably never been a better time in 60 years for kids to be out on bikes near their homes.

Too difficult to police - we'd have 000s of people on Hove Lawns - can't expect the police to be checking all of their addresses. I can see the relaxation - when it happens - allowing 'small groups' perhaps, with the police breaking up larger groups perhaps. For now though there has to be a blanket ban

Re the driving, it was 'clarified' (or not) in one of the daily briefings - the expectation is clear though. We get a lot of dog walkers parking at the end of our close as we back on to a nature reserve - they're still doing so (less than usual though)

Of course...but then I understand quite a lot of accidents happen in the home ..I was purely referring to the pump side of things and how it’s possible to minimise rise

Definitely - can't remember where I saw the quote over the weekend but an A&E consultant at one hospital said they normally get 40-50 broken bones over a normal weekend at his hospital, but last weekend they had 1..................the lockdown stops the virus spreading but also significantly reduces demand on NHS services from 'other' accidents

Maybe we should have a 4 week lockdown once a year anyway, regardless of the virus. Give people a bit of time to chill and the NHS a break.

Just extend Christmas/New Year - I'm eating and drinking and watching TV about the same amount as I would then :lolol::lolol:

Sea swimming weather coming back around and I shall definitely be going in for my daily dip, although I imagine more of a ‘splash and grab’ than sunning on the stones afterwards, which is going to be very hard to resist. I’m guessing if the beach is largely deserted it shouldn’t be an issue sitting for a bit though...hmmm...

I get why the government keeps making the point that we shouldn't visit these places, because certain parks and beaches can get ludicrously crowded on hot weekends and bank holidays - but the finger-pointing and aggression that so many people and journalists are engaged in at the moment is way way over the top. This virus is spreading in cramped public transport, air-conditioned offices, hospitals and busy shops. Its not being spread on open beaches with healthy people having a stroll and keeping their distance. No, don't have a party, don't invite all your mates for a BBQ, but otherwise, this isn't where we should be pointing fingers.

Seems to be the same few examples being chucked about, plus the use of telephoto lenses which massively shorten the view. Propaganda like this doesn't help - ''People in Brighton ignore lockdown...........' etc. Looking the film, struggling to see anyone NOT respecting distancing - walkers and joggers going out of their way to swerve around people, and really not that crowded

Aerial pics give a clearer view of the density of people on the seafront - these in the tweet below are from Saturday morning. Irony being the video in the youtube clip was taken by the same photographer and has completely misrepresented reality - by the shitrag S*n, so no surprise really.

Unfortunately, not just the Scum

Our very own Argus (and the BBC published something similar)

In fact, this pissed me off so much I measured it. From the Policeman in the foreground to the block of toilets on the left is a quarter of a mile. With a normal camera (from google maps) this is what it looks like (note the buildings on the left for perspective)

God, I'm getting bored

I genuinely feel for the people in flats with no outside space, especially families.

I don't see a great issue with someone crossing the road from their flat and sitting in the park reading a book 50 meters from anyone around them - I think the rules could express an hours exercise / private individual recreation. Mental and physical health both incredibly important. I've been going to our park that we walk a short distance to with my son for our hour's exercise and not seen anyone not being incredibly sensible.

Very easy to be critical sat in a garden enjoying a private BBQ and beer in the sunshine delivering judgement on a person suffering on their own with no outside space to speak of.

I think the press have tried to create stories when the British public overall observed the rules with incredible discipline over the weekend. I think the gutter press had their stories ready and no matter what happened, they were going to run with people flouting the rules. As it happened, it was so minor as to really not require reporting.

Think we need to be careful who gets vilified in this crisis.

That's pretty much all of us living in NYC, and a lot of other major cities dotted around the globe. A lot of New Yorkers can only afford to rent an apartment the size of a postage stamp. Normally that isn't an issue, you are really only sleeping in it a lot of the time, but once you start doing an 8 hour home working shift 5 days a week it doesn't take long for cabin fever to set. I'm lucky living close to Central Park so can run / cycle round the various tracks looping round it. The NYPD have a pretty strong presence there but are not being too OTT, and that seems enough as most folk are sticking strictly to the rules whilst getting some much needed exercise and fresh air, which sounds pretty much like what is happening in the UK. Like they keep saying - we're all in this together
