Flicking through the (admittedly pretty crap) Argus souveneer on the '83 FA Cup Final, it was great to see that Gerry Ryan is back on his feet again after his stroke last year. At a time when we have no natural wingers at the club, its amazing to think that Gerry played many times for Ireland but still didn't get a regular place in our line up in those days! For me it's a straight choice between him and Steve Penney for finest Albion winger..

I wouldn't really call Gerry Ryan a winger.

His modern day equivalent would probably be Gary Hart, a whole-hearted player who ended playing in virtually every position, getting his leg broken, and the recipient of an awful lot of respect and affection from the fans.

The best I've seen was Steve Penney, but doubtless some might say Peter O'Sullivan.

Easily Gerry Ryan, played at the highest level as scored some epic goals, Forest away to break their unbroken home run and Man City at the goldstone when he started in our half.

Had his career ended but that Palace ****, Houghton who should have been banned for life and made to shovel shit for eternity.

Not the finest but still a good winger.

Sorry just saw that !!!

How anyone could put Mark Barham in the "best winger ever" category i'll never know

Barham had a great season for us in the '90/'91 play-off season, supplying many of Mike Small's goals. He also played for England a couple of times, and not many BHA players have achieved that......

I'm guessing you've had long periods of time not watching the Albion?

Stuart Storer should be here. He was brilliant. And fast. And a nice man. And old-fashioned. And he scored the last goal at the Goldie.

It tickles my fancy that Paul Brooker is in this poll. Like seeing your gran in a beauty pageant.
