Bride Wars - 4/10

Yes Man was pretty poor, on a par with Jim Carrey's Cable Man!!

Cable Guy is MUCH inderrated in my opinion. The knights in armour restaurant scene is fantastic.

There was. I believe it was sold as 'Flagonne of Aged Stallionne Pisse' in the early days, until those Americans went and rebranded it. They didn't change the recipe though.

The Reader. Drab, despite lots of Winslet kit-off, and no way should her cute little German accent win an Oscar alone. Mundane, worthy story which was fine as a novel but as a film just isn't involving enough. 4.2

That was when they were "Official Sponsors of William Tell" then wasn't it ? That amazing ad where he draws his crossbow and shoots a medium sized raisin off the head of Pope Clement V in Avignon.

Managed to catch quite a few films at the cinema so far this year:

Australia (8/10) - I know this is a film which a lot of people will rightly hate, but I really loved the sheer spectacle of it.

Che: Part One (5/10) - Might work better as one film, but I found this unremarkable and very plodding.

The Reader (6/10) - Solid film but considering the subject it is dissapointingly forgettable.

Slumdog Millionaire (9/10) - Will clearly be one of the films of the year, there are flaws but you forgive them because of the brilliance otherwise.

The Spirit (5/10) - One of the most bizarre films I've ever seen, it's a complete mess but I still love the visual style and I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy it to an extent

Yes Man (4/10) - A good premise completely wasted with the most cliched plot you could imagine and an unnecessary desperation to make the situations crazier and crazier.

Twilight (6/10) - Quite enjoyed this, it's clearly not a brilliant film with a poor plot and some dodgy effects and acting, but it's directed with style and was suitably moody.

Need to go and see Defiance and Role Models now.

8.0/10 and a sure fire awards front-runner for Langella and Sheen as best actor or best supporting actor.

A more 'meaty' subject for Working Title and they do a great job

Off to see , "In Bruges " tomorrow night at the St George Open Air Cinema .
Fantastic setting . Looking out onto the water , sitting in the botanical gardens amongst the fruit bats , with the Opera House , Harbour Bridge & city skyline as a backdrop .There's wonderful food available and a very efficient bar service .If your ever in Sydney in Jan / Feb when the Sydney Festival is on , it's a must do . Gotta be quick getting your tickets though .
This seasons program ( 38 nights ) was almost sold out wthin hours of going on release . Although a few hundred tickets are always kept back for each night for sale on the evening ;

Off ill today and I've had the Rambo boxset sat unwatched for a while so I did the Rambo "quadrilogy"!
First Blood - great film, still by far the best, a little dated maybe - 8/10
First Blood par deux - hadn't seen it since the 80's and it the worst of the bunch - 3/10
Rambo III - I have never seen this before and it was okay, better than 2 - 5/10
John Rambo - Wow gorey! Wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be - 6/10

I guess I should be ready to kill stuff now. Damn this cold!
