FFS Barnes!!!

A?
I can assure you it's not about someone returning that's for sure...The obsession on here every time an ex players scores is embarrasing and predictable.

Close the door on your way out. Nobody is forcing you to read it.

Agree with El Presidente about the alleged trip, as it wasn't, and I'll keep on saying it.

It is an NSC truism that any thread pointing out the successes of Ashley Barnes (I was a little surprised no one bumped last week's thread when he missed a good opportunity v Liverpool on Friday) will reference Jake Forster-Caskey as if the situations are identical.

The difference with JFC is that with Barnes, people had their own arguments for why the criticism was unfair - the unrealistic expectations regarding shots:goal ratios, examples of in game play that he produced, contributions to the match beyond that missed shot that his critics lingered on, that consecutive managers picked him was seen as something to criticise them for as if there was some contract clause.

With JFC there has not (the last couple of games excepted) been a lot of on field contribution to point to to counter his critics, instead his supporters rely on the fact he gets picked to play against other kids for England, or that consecutive managers who have had injury problems in midfield, have continued to pick him.

I'm not saying JFC is no good, or that he isn't being unfairly criticised at times, but that it is not the same thing as what happened with Barnes.

Why have we messed up?
Our style of football is disasterous for strikers and to be fair only the really really good strikers like Ulloa will score for us.Until our footballing boring philosophy changes we'll continue to to fire blanks.
Yes barnes isn't the only striker to go this way as the conveyer belt is endless...So we'll just have to go along with strikers being shite and they don't fit into our system whatever that is.

I never rated barnes and still don't even though he's scored a few prem goals :)

Post of the day mate, well done

Pfft. Really should go old skool:
https://nortr3nixy.nimpr.uk/showthread.php?192944-Ashley-Barnes-isn-t-nearly-good-enough-for-us.

The boy is just too lightweight for pro football, and all the time he has a hole in his arse he wont make it. He'll find his level in the conference within a couple of years.

I've said it so many times, losing Ashley hurt more than any of the other good players who have left the club in the last year.

Surely someone obsessed with ex players scoring is likely to be 12?

Given how we appear to have this new set of fans with this ridiculous sense of entitlement that continue to be very noisy and outspoken about various aspects of the club, it's sweet to see one of our best players of recent years scoring at the very top level, regularly.
