I see nothing wrong with him as a man he is just very singular in is devotion all things United. I also like his very sarcastic quips at other players, managers and officials Sorry Mellotron but his general appraisal of Sir Alex is wrong from the first word to the last.

He's done whatever he feels is best for his club, which is his job. If he has been allowed to overstep the mark, blame the authorities for being frightened of him/united, he just pushed the envelope as far as he could on behalf of his team.

So wrong and just sour grapes no manager will ever equal his achievement at United or any other club. He is a great example of loyalty to his club and the players under him.

You must have a standing search going through all posts on NSC containing the word " Thatcher" ?

Still, I stand by what I say and I feel Mellotron summed it up more succinctly than me with " great manager, but, not a great man."

I have not touched upon his withdrawal of the team from the FA Cup, his too close affiliation with Coolmore when they owned the club, as an alleged, socialist his refusal cosying up to The Glazers over the fans and his lying in court to avoid a motoring ban. I won't go on with the exact examples of his undermining of officials and the FA as I can't spare the time. In fact, what Cloughie says here just about sums Fergie up...

Quite simply the Greatest.

All football supporters owe a debt of gratitude to Sir Alex for all he has done to our great game.

His teams are always a joy to watch and he will be sadly missed.

The favourite appears to be Moyes just because he's been touted for years as the next manager of Man United. I don't really understand why he's always been touted for the job- he's Scottish that's the only similarity he has with SAF. He's never managed a big transfer budget or been in a title race.

I've always assumed it would be Moyes but having read a few tweets from a BBC journo he's alluding that the decision to be made in 48 hours will rock the football world which leads me more towards thinking it might be Mourinho with Ronaldo in toe. Imagine that.[/QUO

It's Moyes, to be announced tomorrow apparently...

From the BBC:

David Moyes is set to be appointed as Sir Alex Ferguson's successor at Manchester United.

An announcement could be made tomorrow afternoon.

Ideal job for poyet (Everton)

Fergie was good on the domestic front, although being the richest for the most part helps, but only 2 European Cups in 26 years shows he was not the best worldwide.

David Gill says the new man must have a track record both domestically and in Europe. What exactly has Moyes won?

Find it totally unreal that Everton are shocked to hear that Moyes will become Utd's new manager. It's been spoken about for over a year.

Half caught something on the radio 4. They were discussing football managers in terms of return on investment. Simply who had the most success based on the money they have spent. Don't ask me the formula.

I was surprised that mega bucks United under Ferguson was number 1. Second was Everton under Moyes.

So fair play to the miserable old bugger and they have found the perfect successor.

Trying to explain to a premiershite fan this morning, why Moyes was a better manager than the man from Portugal.

Whatever you think of Fergie he is the best football manager the world has ever known and almost certainly ever likely to.
Yes he's been a nob on several occasions but haven't most managers at some point.
Well done Sir Alex and enjoy your retirement !!!!

So part of the Zaha deal was, if Palace reach the playoffs, Fergie has to announce his retirement early so the Moyes gets touted as the next manager, then Gus gets touted for Everton at a crucial time to upset Palaces potential opponents.
Needs to be investigated!
If fixtures, sorry, too tired to look
