Palace were the better side. They deserved to win over the 2 games.

How can we criticise Palace for being flukey after our game on Sunday?:) Personally I couldn't give a monkey's about Palace getting to the Premiershite, as long as we get to Div 1.

I think Stumpy had it spot on. I can't have a blind hate for a side and judge it on what is happening on the pitch. Palace wanted it more, the played which great spirit and determination and deserved to win.

Sunderland with an extra man for 30 minutes in et were content to play out the game for penalties.

For the first time in my life I was rooting for Palace.

An urgent appointment at my doctors surgery is being made today naturally.

Shaun Derry's got a face you'd never tire of punching. What's that mullet haircut all about? Marcus Stewart's is the same. As for Shipperley, he is Cro-Magnon man.

Michael Hughes is their nasty "wouldn't want to be in a pub with him and his mates at closing time" type. Did you see what he did to McAteer to try and wind him up and get him to retaliate. Took his legs out and then stamped on him. Hat's off to McAceer for not rising to the bait of the little Irish wanker.

No not fair fcuking play at all

1. Shipperley clearly fouled Poom before Powell scored

2. Powell had already been booked and should have had another yellow for celebrating with the Palace fans just as Kyle did in the first half. Ref booked Johnson for celebrating that goal but not Powell!!!

3. Hughes should have also seen red for stamping on Macteer's back.

4. Am I bitter......yeah probably

Did anyone else notice that Palace appeared to have Kane Dingle in their midfield ?

No, but I will remember that every time I do now.

Danny Butterfield, it even sounds like a name from Emmerdale....and if the Dingles were a football team, they could only be Palace. Neil Shipperley would be Lisa (fat), Julian Gray as Marlon (flaky, weedy), Lance Cronin would be Sam (thick) and Tony Popovic or Shaun Derry would be Shadrach.

Last night was really odd for me- obviously I can't wish for a Palace win, but they really were miles better than Sunderland in the first half and didn't deserve to be behind. I cannot stand Mick McCarthy or Jason McAteer either so it was hard to cheer for them too. Palace's goal should never have stood though.

Let's face it, whichever team goes up from Div 1 is going to be one of the poorest for years. In all honesty, Palace probably have the best chance of survival out of the 3 left. Damn them.

Sunderland need to have a long, hard look at themselves.

1. Why were there so many empty seats?
2. Why did they take off Marcus Stewart with 5 minutes to go, thereby inviting Palace to attack them for the remaining 9 minutes of play, and deprive themselves of a penalty taker?
3. Why did they not make more of the one man advantage for the whole of extra time and part of normal time?

Sunderland blew it, pure and simple. Justice was done on the night.

I felt Palace would win after it went into extra time, the Sunderland woman crying at the end of normal time clearly felt they'd blown it as I did watching.

And I reckon Ipswich have a better chance of beating Palace than West Ham.

Pavilionaire:
can only answer the first one:

One block or empty seats was for segregation reasons ... the others were due to Sunderland fans simply not being able to afford to attend. With the cup run, their good away support and now the play-offs and the level of unemployment in the City, many fans just cannot afford it. It was quite strange last night to find a lot of fans in the City watching the match in a pub. Taking in the whole game for the cost of three pints of beer rather than the gate prices.

Even the FA Cup semi final the club had to offer extra tickets to season ticket holders cos they could not sell them all. It's a different world here!

There is an argument that the club could redice ticket prices by up to 30%, but as the club itself is neary £30million in debt it is a financial balancing act which its shareholders would not allow.
