I think it would need to it.

I guess the club would have to be onboard fully, which would be a blessing and a curse I reckon. Wouldn't want it to be a propaganda film!

I have no knowledge of film making but I imagine having to have the club on board is likely to be much more restrictive than you would like. Great idea and good luck

Indeed, I watched a bit of the Spurs one.and seemed to be all about how Mourinho was such a popular character inevitably guiding them to global domination

OK so this is a 'testing the water' post.

Over the last few years I have gathered quite a few decent contacts in the world of film, filmmaking and film distribution.

With that in mind, I have been thinking for a while that I'd love to make a feature length documentary showcasing our story to the world. Not just a dull straight forward doc, but something great, really inspiring - a proper rags to riches tale to inspire real fans of 'proper' clubs.

In order to get such a project on the move I'd need four things, Albion fans on the crew / creative team would be great, access to the major players in the story, access to footage, and of course some money.

If you have a lead on any of the above, or have any thoughts, drop me a DM.

Very early days at the moment - nothing is in place.

Warren x

How long are you thinking of making it for, 90 minutes for some fans and 85 for others

...or a Baddiel and Skinner Fantasy Football 'Phoenix from the Flames' treatment...

"Right. I'll be Stuart Storer. You can be Mark Morris..."

That's great! Imagine it. A beautifully shot Netflix style doc with childish receations of our most famous moments.Brilliant

I actually spoke to Storer about the mosaic all those years ago. He'd do it!

All you'd need by way of props would be authentic shirts from the era and a bunch of extras to play oppo players, refs, linos, physios etc. I reckon quite a few of the old-stagers would come out to tell their story and recreate 'their' moment. I know Robbie Reinelt most likely would too. I bet most of them would.

Warren Aspinall could do the voiceovers given it that saturday night after a full afternoon on the lash away day feel.

I've always thought that it needed the dramatic treatment. Start with various composite fan characters at the kick off to the Doncaster game. Throughout the game - wavy line cuts to flash backs as each remember parts of their joint journey: fans united, the last game at the Goldstone, the marches, the arguments, the triumphs, the knock backs, the unlikely friendships built, the stories of some that didn't make it all the way with us. Back up to date, Buckley's winner, inspiring speech from wise old fan about football clubs mattering only because the people who love them matter. Job done. End title card telling the promotion story and play out with real footage of the Wigan pitch invasion and 'Praise You'. End shot still of Lewis Dunk on the pitch in his pants with a caption saying that the one club man who had joined at the age of 12 was eventually found not guilty of Billy Sharp's murder and went on to captain Brighton in the top division.

Will you include an expose of what happened to the Cup Final money?

Panorama have been working on that for years. Still no final cut.

Fat Boy Slim - must have video production experience [or contacts] and maybe understands material copyright issues.
Might also put his hand in his pockets - he's been known to before for club ventures ....

Harty involved, he would bury this.

Paul Rogers was the club marketing manager for a good period - must have some useful contacts and know the ropes.

Bound to be others too ....

When conditions allow, fly to Spain and get a full-on RANT from DK and then build from there. Go the extra mile and swerve the usual limelight seekers. Go to Firle. Go to Newhaven. Make a small quiet grainily-impressive film without the usual dreary cast of rent-a-mouth showboaters. In short: show us something NEW

Whilst I agree in principle, if it is also to be of interest to non-Albion fans, the main stuff has to be 'the story' (Acher / Bellotti York / Mansfield /Brady / Gritt / Doncaster / Hereford /Dick Knight / Gillingham / Yes,yes / Withdean and the fight for Falmer. and on to the PL with Tony Bloom in charge.

It's one hell of a story.

I’ve got some old VHS tapes of the war years ie a compilation 96/97, and some dvds from Withdean.

Getting the footage is the easy part. Using without getting sued is the hard part.

One of my favourite moments in the campaign for Falmer was when the Labour party conference was in Brighton and the TV news were interviewing a Labour minister in the Grand Hotel and you could hear the Albion fans from outside.

Magical.
