So what happens if the 6 (7 with Newcastle) clubs call the leagues bluff?

A PL with out United/Liverpool/Arsenal brings in nowhere near as much money in TV revenues/Sponsors.

I think what will happen is the PL will "reluctantly" agree to them joining a Super League and withdrawing from UEFA and the rest of the PL will agree

I think given half a chance, the US/Saudi owners who only see £ signs would try to to do it.

I'm convinced the fans across the board would kick off in multiple ways, pitch invasions, sit ins, protests to make it as virtually untenable as is possible.

That's the real flash point, not league and clubs but greedy owners and fans

The men's competition would be split into three tiers - the Star (top tier of 16 teams), Gold (middle tier of 16 teams) and Blue (bottom tier of 32 teams) - with promotion and relegation between each tier.

Those teams that finish in the top eight of each league will go into the knockout stages, with quarter-finals and semi-finals played over two legs and the finals held at neutral venues.

The bottom 20 teams in the Blue league would be relegated from the competition entirely and replaced by the top-performing clubs from European domestic leagues.

The two teams that make the final of the Gold and Blue leagues would be promoted up a tier, while the two teams that finish bottom of the Star and Gold leagues would be relegated down a tier.

Matches will be played in midweek, allowing the new European Super Leagues to be run in tandem with European domestic leagues.

I can really see Florentino Perez and Yasir Al-Rumayyan voting for that.

I note that one of the founders of A22 (John Hahm) used to work for (ahem) Morgan Stanley whose now separate investment arm also happen to have registered offices at the same address in Madrid as (would you believe it) A22.

A wonderful Christmas present for us all.

And they've made it merit-based and extended it so that mid-table PL clubs will be tempted to go for it. Sadly, I fear we will get sucked in.

This is the time - I hope - for the Albion to stand up and say 'not in our name.'

I've enjoyed the Europa, but it has cost me a small fortune to travel.

And, in all honesty, I don't want to get my head kicked in in Marseille or get tear gassed in Athens a dozen times a year, so in reality Europe can 'do one'.

On this rare occasion with Europe, I'm voting OUT.

relegation & promotion - if you are 1 of the 16 Star chosen clubs, it will take you 3 years to get relegated out

The corrupt officials in FIFA and EUFA are the real losers here. UEFA is already under the control of the elite clubs. Todays court ruling will just mean these elite clubs will set up their own competion without EUFA being involved (just like the Premier League set up its own competion in 1992 without the English Football League's involvment).

The Champions League will be replaced by a club run midweek super league with more meaningful and lucrative matches for the clubs involved. Fans around the world will be able to watch matches for free rather than pay a subscription.

FIFA's World Club Championship is now dead as its unecessary.

We aren’t thinking clearly lads. This is going to be like boxing with four or so different associations. We need to quickly set up the NSC Ultra League, and invite all the clubs to play in it. Riches galore for everyone. We’ll play on Sunday nights so the domestic and super leagues aren’t affected.

Murdoch started the ball rolling by buying the PL as a loss leader for Sky. Now the Saudi's, UAE, Qatari's an Yanks are in the mix. The Yanks know it's a global sport and the Middle East want to sports wash.

Read @El Presidente's book. He called it.

The European clubs will all vote for it because they want some of the Premier League's cash.

Hopefully this will fast track our own government's review into football and force a change in ownership rules. BUT, as the Sausi'a and Yanks have bought up a lot of Permier League real estate I imagine they will contest that in court. I imagine that a Saudi club will also want to be part of this league too.

But, the UK government should fight it. The PL can see off this Super League if they want. Madrid, Barca etc. are desperate for it because they know their own football model is broken.

When it happens, it'll be seismic. Sadly, football fans are too fickle and if it gets over the line they'll still sign up to watch it.

I think supporters reactions will vary between club.

ManU and Liverpool likely to fight it.

Newcastle and Chelsea chase the dosh.

ManC hard to say …. they really hate UEFA.
