Dr Strangelove followed closely by Paths of Glory and Lolita.
2001 is best viewed stoned, The Shining is let down by Nicholson's overacting, A Clockwork Orange's mythical banned status overshadows what is a dull film. Full Metal Jacket is the best Vietnam war film ever filmed in the Isle of Dogs.
Spartacus wasn't really his film, the original director was sacked very early in production and it was Kirk Douglas who persuaded Kubrick to come on board.
