"One Hundred Years'

Saw them headlining the Friday night at Glastonbury in 1986 - just as they came onstage, after a scorching hot summer day, a thunderstorm erupted, and they opened their set with this song.

Thunder and lighting overhead, dry ice on stage, and Robert Smith wailing 'Doesn't matter if we all die, just a vision in the back of a black car....'

Very poignant and moving.

That whole album is THE NUTS, IMO, but that track is superb. The one after 100 years on Pornography is also top drawer - can't remember the name.

Got to say I really liked Shake Dog Shake - saw a video of them live in Orange and that was superb.

.

A day without substance
A change of thought
An atmosphere that rots with time
Colours that flicker in water
A short term effect

I'm a fan of "In between days"

I don't think there is a song on the greatest hits I don't like.

I have probably played Pornography more times than any other album in my collection, with the possible exception of 'Closer'

I have very very fond memories of A Forest. I bought A Forest on 12" when it came out. I remember being a little confused at to what a 12" single was. Years later I also spent one Xmas holiday at university learning to play this track on my bass guitar. I never did master the track, or the guitar for that matter.

What a class band they were in their day.

Any advance on "A Forest"?

I didn't read any more of the thread because I think you have got it in one. Although a passing nod to "Boys don't Cry" might be in order. Then again, "Fire in Cairo" too.

Yup, they were indeed a good sound.

We are incorrectly talking about them in the past sense - they are still going. However it is true that they haven't done anything to match their 80s peak.
